Radeon R9 290X Accidentally Priced at Online Retailer

Retailer Newegg let the cat out of the bag for the R9 290X pricing.

Though we still don't have a release date, Newegg has priced AMD's upcoming Radeon R9 290X at $729.99 before tax. TechPowerUp reports that an MSI reference design got its own store page with redacted pricing but that the HTML page for the page revealed the pricing. This means the high-end R9 200X will likely carry a $699 price tag. (AMD, PC)

It beats a titan using mantle supposedly. Now I have several questions. Which one wins with pure power? Which one wins with games that are geared toward nvidia hardware? If nvidia wins with nvidia games and amd wins with amd games then what's the point? We'll see who gets the higer benchmarking scores. Hey, don't get me wrong, if AMD wins, all power to them. They should! Titan is an old man relative to its release date and tech life span. The faster the AMD products are and the lower the price the more pressure for Nvidia to give a better price performance ratio and that is something we can all enjoy. Besides, the Titan ultra is looming and that will be the true competitor but all in due time.

until the next titan comes out. This has been happening for a very long time now AMD vs NVIDIA. But Nvidia tends to pull out always on top for the past 5> 10 years. Last time AMD really did well was when they launched the x1900 Series. (the same chipset in the xbox 360. That is why Gears looked quite decent for a console back in the days.

I just don't trust the AMD drivers. I'll just wait for the 880s to come out to replace my 580. UNLESS I can get some hard proof that they have improved their drivers. It's not like I have anything truly against AMD. I would just rather wait and spend the same or maybe a little more on a guarantee good quality that nVidia has provided me the past 10+ years. In the end, I hope this card+drivers is awesome. It sure would be nice to spend less money!
