The PS4 Sold Out Almost Instantly on Amazon Japan, but its Games Aren’t Too Popular Yet

When Sony opened the floodgates of preorders for the PS4 in Japan three days ago, the console sold out almost instantly anywhere, including the local branch of Amazon, that pushed out a second batch after a couple hours and ran out of stock in minutes again.

With a little less fanfare nine games were also made available for preorder for Sony’s upcoming console. How are those doing? Turns out that they’re not exactly flying off the virtual shelves.

Could also be the fact that it' not going to be released for at least another 5 months??

Dark Souls 2 is higher in the charts, and it's going to be released in 6.

My theory is that in Japan the PS4 comes packed with plenty games already. No need to buy more.

Sony is really doing an amazing job with the PS4 and it's not even out yet. Considering the delay for when the PS4 launches in Japan it is crazy to see them sell out so fast.

I really hope the rise of the PS4 and this Publishing program Sony is doing for 3rd parties brings about a resurgence of AAA Japanese develop games coming to the West. At the very least I hope we see more JRPGs on the console. A Monster Hunter for PS4 would just be insane.

@Majin - it could also be the fact that the Japanese already blew a wad of their money on vitaTV and have none left over for PS4 games atm lol!

Wasn't it the explanation from Sony as to why they put the Ps4 in February instead?

They've said it themselves that the games weren't really made for Japan, even if Killzone sells well in America and Europe.

Games can you get on release day, if not they restock fast and some(all?) can you get digital in the worst case...the PS4 on the other hand...

It comes with Knack.

I pre-ordered my system at the weekend, and didn't order any games with it (but I'll almost certainly get Killzone).

There really is hardly ever a reason to pre-order a game other than certain pre-order bonuses and the occasional super-popular title.

"Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will also enter its PS4 beta on February the 22nd as well, and those that already purchased the PS3 version will be able to upgrade for free. Furthermore, in order to play online, gamers will need a PlayStation Plus subscription, that comes packed with a slightly stripped down version of Driveclub."

This. Japanese players will flood the server in PS4 beta.
