Killzone PS4: why being first demands excellence

Killzone: Shadow Fall is Sony’s leading launch title. VG247′s Dave Cook spoke with developer Guerrilla Games to get a handle on how it looks to exceed expectation, and showcase PS4′s power to the world. (Guerrilla Games, Killzone: Shadow Fall, PS4)

i wish they're gonna sell loads of it cause this series is amazing, especially multiplayer.
mdluffy  +   298d ago
Indeed, Guerrilla Games are one of the teams that people underestimate.
Bundi  +   298d ago
I disagree, except for the multiplayer part since. I have never bothered to try it so I'll reserve judgement.
However as far as everything else goes, besides the graphics the Killzone series has always seemed to strike the meh cord for me personally.

The gameplay is okay/good, nothing amazing and the story is so incredibly dull, especially in 3. I was only able to complete the campaign because of the couch co-op which made it fun.

I remain optimistic though, maybe they'll make a game worthy of the hype this time around.

Just my opinion of course, I'm sure many of you have had different experiences.

Your comment tells me that you didn't bother to play Killzone 3,because aside from the multiplayer, that game had such an enjoyable campaign.

I gotta say one of the things i enjoy most about the series is the story.

From the beginning with jan templar to rico and sev I cant see how some say this series has no memorable characters. I immediately started to like jammer. Its was like she would bail you out when your back was against the wall.

not only multiplayer is mega fun (even on KZ3), but KZ2 or KZ3 blows every other FPS in terms of visual performance and physics.
Also, Move support is just mindblowing! If you wanna try a true FPS experience with motion control, try killzone 3 with move.

i'm highly excited for Shadow Fall.
Joe913  +   297d ago
@abzdine The move support and 3d in KZ3 was the best FPS experience I ever had. People think the motion and 3d is a gimmick if used like KZ3 it is not a gimmick after playing with the move will make you not want to play a fps with out a move controller again I hope they allow you in KZSF but I think I heard they will not support it which I think is a mistake.
Bundi  +   297d ago
Actually KZ3 is the game that led me to almost give up on the series entirely because of how boring the story was.
As I said, only redeeming feature was the couch co-op. Having my brother play with me was the only reason I finished it since the story wasn't very compelling.

As far as visual performance goes, I won't deny KZ2 and 3 look good but I was far more impressed with BFBC2 and it's art style and physics. In my opinion it is far more impressive that BC2 looked that good while also having lush open environments.

@Joe93

Good point there, Joe.
The art director of KZ3 is one of the best out there also the mecha designer is very original. The graphical style is also a breath of fresh air. Instead of aiming for realism they went for a great artistic style. The animation is not as smooth as Uncharted but KZ3 is still up there in quality.

Yup you are right about the Move controller gameplay. Its tons of fun because of its precision and accuracy. I can not recommend it enough to snipers.

Having logged in 40+ hrs in killzone mercenary and knowing that shadow fall follows in step with the gameplay of merc with owl and vanguards. I can say that this game has got me more excited than any other fps on any ps console ever. It's time for gg to shine and be at the same public approval as Santa Monica and nd and mm

Killzone has a hardcore following since the first title....and Killzone 2 is to this day the best multiplayer experience with the best clan system ever created. Hopefully they looked to KZ2 when making this one.
bloodybutcher  +   297d ago
i still would like to have Operations from kz3, just with many more maps.

Is there a reason they're r u all bald?
fpshooter2  +   297d ago
I believe it because of the planet. Helghan had such harsh conditions that it was actually killing a lot of its inhabitants. After some time on the planet the helghast started to become stronger.
Joe913  +   297d ago
In KZ3 they had Helghast with hair the psp game main bad guy had hair.

Killzone is one of the top 5 FPS available today

It's better to wait until the multiplayer for it is free. The story was ruined with the 3rd game. It should've ended at the 2nd game story wise.
