Friday Night Rant: No More Day One Online Meltdowns Please

OnlySP: This week Grand Theft Auto V fans saw the online portion of the game they bought, aptly named Grand Theft Auto Online, go online and then immediately collapse like a monument beneath a flying saucer.

The most surprising thing about the catastrophic GTAO debut wasn't that it was a catastrophe, it wasn't even that it joins in infamy such launches as Diablo III, The Sims 3, and Final Fantasy XIV. No, the most surprising thing is that when gamers express their frustration with these disasters they are met with a wall of opposition in the form of other gamers staunchly defending the meltdowns.

The story is too old to be commented.

Rockstar said on numerous accounts that GTA:O will not work 100% on day one. Yet somehow nobody read this.

There's a difference between "not working 100%" and "virtually unplayable".

There honestly needs to be some kind of scheme implemented for large scale online releases, where they slowly put the game out to a small portion of gamers (similar to beta testing) and gradually keep making the game available to more and more players until the the game is officially released.

Something like that anyway.

Then whats the point in releasing the online portion of it then? Might as well slap a beta sticker on it then it would be much more understandable...

My only problem with this is R* could communicate better. Last Twitter post 13hrs ago and the servers been down for at least 5hrs.
SOME people aren't in the loop tech wise and a little reassurance from R* may ease some frustrations.
How hard is it to post an update??
