What is Midway doing to Mortal Kombat?

Mortal Kombat is one of those franchises that brought up our gaming world. It is the first game that gave us gore and guts, and what really grabbed the media's attention. If it wasn't for Mortal Kombat, gaming may not be what it is today and I really mean that. But that was back in 1992 and gaming was ripe and starting to come together.

Its ok idea we will just have to wait for the reviews.

Palodios3686d ago (Edited 3686d ago )

Based on the trailer, the game still looks dark, and the fighting animations still seem brutal. Maybe there is still hope for our gore and fatalities?

Edit: Oh... a teen rating? That's.... that's just not right.

They are simply making it better GOD its not like midway are going to say"damn people dont want it lets drop the project!!!"

just accept it

This is better to you?

I'm assuming you weren't there at the beginning like I and a few other members from this site. It's expected for them to continue the butchering of the franchise that's been going on since the game turned 3D, but this is complete garbage.

Supposedly it's been declared that it won't even receive an M rating, which (unless I'm missing something here) makes it pretty much impossible to include fatalities, the main staple of this franchise.

The Dark Knight3686d ago is better to me, and i have played it since the "begging" the last 2 games was the same Sh!t just a different cover, cant be the same for ever

accept it man, they aint gunna change it

Yeah... Don't go considering so "few" was playing MK when it started... And the fact is that NES times was long gone and other fighting games have appeared and disappeared, evolution comes by, selection with it. MK have also to move.

I don't know about you, but I really don't want to play my old NES and SNES (or arcade) games, I can toy with it for a moment, for the nostalgia, but that is it. Last years, Soul Calibur has visited my console much more than Mortal Kombat, i like 3D fights... And even for those about 2D, MK has turned out to be slow and limited. To be more real, to the point it hurts, the only appeal MK always have, gameplay wise, was the idea of a pos-combat super move.

If they want to be here this gen and the next one, better they bring us the good old sensations of gore and whatever-alities, but also make it feel fresh and delightful.

Evolution is fine, but they also practice regression. This series hasn't been purchase-worthy since Trilogy, but I always maintain an inkling of hope every time I hear a new one is coming because it was such an important series for my intro to gaming.

By chopping it down to a teen rating, they're essentially destroying the "alities" that made this series what it is. That doesn't sound like a proper evolution to me.

they're giving it a fatality......

Grassroots3686d ago

the series has gone downhill the past couple years eventhough they still sold many copies....I like the idea, and concept they are trying to do in the new game, but come on T! That's just crazy the series brought gore fighting the the mainstream just to back down 15 years later, just crazy. No Fatalities, has to be lies.
