Ace Combat Infinity Preview | VGU

"Ever since the release of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, I have been hoping for a game that went back to what made the series a classic. Immersive stories that put you in the cockpit as the hero, varying loadouts and planes to suit different situations and nothing that comes between you and the flow of the game, like dog fight mode. Luckily my prayers have been answered in the form of Ace Combat Infinity. Do not be put off with the free to play stamp as this is a true return to classic AC action. But, can the game stand up to some of the legendary titles from the series past? It's time to enter our cockpits and find out."

I'm glad that the gameplay is like AC 4.

YES, AH made me very worried... played the demo and did a few tests to see if it was worth it and the answer was a resounding 'NO'.

Anything that takes control away from the player gameplay-wise is a huge disappointment so DFM was horrible. Maneuvering is most of the fun... why take that away?

I also noticed enemies wouldn't go down realistically at all... it almost seemed as if they were scripted to go down at a certain location rather than after a certain damage threshold.

And the final test...the crash test. Nosediving into Sun Life Stadium (a nice flat area) was the final nail in the coffin to my hopes of AC:AH as my plane proceeded to bounce 3 or 4 times before being destroyed. There was no serious threat of losing... I feel like the only way I would go down is intentionally.

I'm hearing something about a "Sortie Fuel System"... I would rather pay $100-$120 up front than to have this timer based Facebook *@#%* in my Ace Combat!

I don't care if they release with both a F2P AND a standard pricing model... please make it happen!
