Neither zombie games nor card battle games are strangers to mobile. The two genres have even managed to cross paths in the past. Now, mobile game company GREE International is working on Beyond the Dead, a free-to-play game that looks to take some elements of card battles, zombie games, and traditional social games, and combine them in one big post-apocalyptic wasteland.
By David:It’s the usual doomsday scenario – the dead have risen and are now feasting on the living. However, the zombies are not the only threats as you must also fight against humans for domination and survival. With Beyond the Dead, it’s the survival of the fittest as you must train your party to be able to thrive against any and all threats both living and dead alike. Make sure that you have enough supplies to keep your forces in tip top shape, and try to make the most out of the post-apocalyptic world.
GamesBeat: Zombies will probably never go away, but at least these games are trying something different with them.
Despite the numerous delays, in terms of anticipation, DayZ Standalone is still at the top of my list. And yes, as the article briefly touched upon, the zombies are a bigger threat in DayZ Standalone, however, the game is still best served through player-to-player encounters, which are far more frantic and heart pumping than thwarting z-freaks.
Based on the development updates, DayZ looks to bring more balance to player interaction, which in theory will mediate the mod's current, "shoot on site" philosophy.
How to Survive is definitely interesting, but it makes me want to play Dead Nation and not worry about food and water and all that.
I always felt that the best stories to tackle zombies used the actual creatures as a more secondary threat. As a monster, they feel better suited to be a reflection of the worst of humanity than any credible danger.
