Gameranx: "Shuhei Yoshida has come out to explain just why the PlayStation 4 is a more appealing option than the Xbox One."
Because he works fof sony and this is pr talk. Both willl be enjoyable, just like this gen.
Read article before you post anything. Sony is centered on the consumer. Not trying to get DRM restrictions nor having a kinect spy camera watch you all the time, tough Yoshida himself only said they were focused on the gamers while the editor added the DRM + Kinect. I get it Microsoft, you are removing the mandatory kinect because people don't want to get spied at from inside their homes. But that simply means that indeed people that do uses the Kinect will get spied on and the only way not to be spied on is to not plug in the kinect in. Couldn't you just not support PRISM in the first place as far as the Xbox One is concern? You're still selling the kinect bundled, it has some features people may be into but won't because of privacy issues. I don't see a lot of people plotting terrorist attacks while playing Xbox One and if so, how would you make the difference between a real terrorist plot and people playing Call of Duty? You can't. The way PRISM works is that it's based off words like "Bomb" or "explosion" and that could be just about any military shooter out there.
@UlimateMaster, don't "bate" me... So you don't like Microsoft and think that Sony are Beautiful wonderful people, cool!!. I think both companies are cool, though I'll be the Xbox One cos it's cooler for me. If people wat to spy on me and my man in the livingroon "doing the bad thing" then great. I don't give a sh!t. Since you're not buying one neither should you...yet you do...I wonder why?
@Gekko36 Because the majority of people don't want to be spied on. A lot of people aren't interested in the kinect and would want an Xbox One without it. And it's not a question of doing bad things or not, it's your personal life, your privacy. If you want to throw that away for the sake of being a fanboy, good for you, but guess what? Many other people don't want that. They make petitions against S.O.P.A. because they don't want that sh!t.
Saying an "Alternative" of not having PRISM while still being able to plug your kinect would be in the consumer's best interest.
@Gekko36, U MAD BRO? Calm down and count to five. No need for your hostel negative waves. He's pointing out his opinion and what the article said. Also, what makes you think that it's just going to be the government that spies on you? Microsoft and Sony has been hacked before. What makes you think people won't try to hack the kinect to get information from you (identity theft). Doesn't the kinect have a microphone?
@UltimateMaster "Since you're not buying one neither should you...yet you do...I wonder why? " "Because the majority of people don't want to be spied on. " my my... so much compassion for your fellow man! You aught to redirect that compassion towards solving our global food crisis, or supporting people who lost their homes in the recession. Concern for gamers who don't want to maybe probably not be spied on seems like such a waste of your unfettered altruism.
@UltimateMaster LoL!! As long as you have an IP Address, Big Brother is always watching. It's just not for Kinect. It can be the camera on your PC/Laptop/Tablet. It can be the information on your smartphone. Hell, people can hack into the camerea on your Smart TV now. The Gov't only wants people who are a risk against national security. And stop just saying MS. MS & Google teamed up to sue the Government for more privacy for consumers. Hit the link below to the IGN article. http://www.ign.com/articles... Remember it was the US that created the internet. And they gonna justify the means when it comes to National Security.
MS still wants to "spy on people" but it has little to nothing to do with SOPA or PRISM. They want to monetize the time you spend using the XB1 selling it off not the government but other companies in the name of ad revenue. That's why Kinect has been forced included though supposedly no longer needed, yet most if not everything for the XB1 has been tailored to include it. Things are still "better w/Kinect".
I read it and it didn't even justify the title. PS vita? OK
well, i believe they should apply their concerns to all their products then. as far as i know all their vaios have cameras, all their xperias have cameras, and so on, even ps4 has a camera, its just bullshit what their claimming
The US did not create tbe internet. one english man did.
i'm not a fan of kinect by any means, but thinking MS was going to spy on people through the device is ridiculous.
The people who think MS are going to spy on users with Kinect have been watching to many movies.
@UltimateMaster - Do you really think the Kinect can be used to spy on people? Are you really that naive? Let's think about this rationally and then maybe you'll understand that it won't be used to spy on you. That's just an idiotic opinion on something you have no proof for and the same goes for anyone else who thinks the same. Let's be grown her and not act like a bunch of 10 yr olds who don't have a life and spend their days bashing a console they have no plans of getting in the first place. Thanks
As soon as I hear "I dont want Kinect spying on me" from someone on the internet, with likely a laptop/pc camera, cell phone, etc and some online social membership like facebook I mediately tune them out as I just can't take anyone that uninformed about the thousands of other ways the govt can attain private info seriously I mean then these same folks actually feel like kinect is the best secret agent device Agent Smith has been waiting for to see them in their underwear. lol, I just dont get it. btw Yes I think Kinect is just 1 of many reasons X1 will be more fun for me.
"The Gov't only wants people who are a risk against national security." That is just adorable. "thinking MS was going to spy on people through the device is ridiculous." "The people who think MS are going to spy on users with Kinect have been watching to many movies." "Do you really think the Kinect can be used to spy on people? Are you really that naive?" I know, right? These ridiculous paranoiacs need Microsoft's own former Chief Privacy Adviser to set them straight: Ex-Microsoft privacy adviser: I don't trust company after NSA revelations http://www.theguardian.com/...
"If you want to throw that away for the sake of being a fanboy, good for you," So Somebody who buys X1 now is a fanboy? Great logic there. Its amazing people don't think before they type.
"kinect spy camera" Take off your tinfoil hat and then we can talk. If it would be article about MS saying how it's better than ps4, comments would be like " PR talk! MS is desperate!
Because Kinect is the ONLY way the government could spy on you, lol. What is this North Korea? When has this become such a big issue? Oh yea, more lame excuses created to downplay the Xbox One. Hmmmm, I wonder if anyone of the Sony fanboys will buy the new PS Eye(Kinect) for their new PS4? I wonder will they too have the same fears they had about the Kinect 2. naaaaw, of course not because now it's Sony right? I wonder if any news outlet reported the govment spying on people through the original Kinect? Surely that would have came to light right, since MS supports the NSA.
Sony are doing a bundle with the PS4 camera! the new Dualshock controller has a built in Speaker/mic! if you don't think & HUGE company like Sony will attempt to spy on some people through there tech & there gaiki cloud service, then i don't know what to say. Even Nintendo are not as innocent as you may think they are, with there built in Wii Gamepad camera & mic, Neither are Apple... iphone >i = eye > Siri (backwards) = Iris
@ gekko, Easy bro, nobody wants to watch 2 dudes doing the "naughty" in their bedroom. Lmao!
Correction, Sony want to win you back, after PS2 domination, they lost alot, had alot riding on PS3... nearly destroyed them. Maybe they will continue doing good things, but like any business, once they have you, there comes a time when they feel like they can tell you what to do. Just like when your locked in a contract with Phones, they call the shots. That 'alot of people don't want to be spied on' are fanboys, a small noisy minority in the grand scheme of things...
"Yoshida said. “We want consumers to look at how much fun it is to use this system, not just for playing games but for finding out about games and sharing the experience with other people." This is a huge factor for me. Being able to seamlessly watch a friend play any game they've decided to live stream, jump into the game at a really fast speed and even playing a game as it downloads/before it's finished downloading. I love the social aspect of following popular streamers and easily seeing game play of the games I might be interested in. All from the comfort of my gaming console. It's funny because it caters to my interest/wish/desire and it also helps Sony as a form of game advertisement. Watching people play is a way of letting a game sell itself. So many times I see what my friends on PS3 are playing and wish I could just pop in and view what they're doing, especially if it's a game I don't have.
Damn, Are we doing this all over again? On topic, the article title is just flame bait. Yoshida said no such thing, the artie is based off "We want consumers to look at how much fun it is to use this system". No cause for rage here. Don't give gameranx what they want.
@UltimateMaster: That user name alone shows you got your head stuck in you own bottom. No one voting you in charge of speaking for the majority or minority. You are just a kid on the internet who happens to be a Sony fanboy. Getting in line, there are plenty of those.
What is ironic is the people saying "MS spying" are the same ones with laptop, tablet or smart phone camera. All those devices, right now has apps that infect your device and opens up the camera for real spying. In many cases, these spying of infected machines results in blackmail and even suicide. Here is an article just this early May about it: "Meet the men who spy on women through their webcams" http://arstechnica.com/tech... The vast majority isn't concerned there, but somehow they are so concerned about MS console which is a closed platform. Please bring your altruism to where it matters and let us others that don't want your "goodwill" to ruin our fun. By the way, Kinect has a microphone, maybe it is trying to spy on you by listening? /sarcasm
Can you do us all a favor and ask mommy and daddy before log in again?
"What is ironic is the people saying "MS spying" are the same ones with laptop, tablet or smart phone camera. All those devices, right now has apps that infect your device and opens up the camera for real spying." Your remote viewing capabilities are truly astounding, to be sure. Who cares about Kinect when apparently nukeitall can see right into our homes with no hardware assistance whatsoever! There's no camera on my laptop. There's no camera connected to my PC. I don't own a tablet. My phone (that stares at the inside of my pocket) is a BlackBerry, which has notoriously good security. Not everyone so willingly surrenders themselves to the surveillance state. Of course, those are all false equivalencies on a number of different levels, but the naive and/or apathetic swing them around like trump cards. Doesn't really matter what I think, though, since the XBL EULA *admits* that Kinect is and/or can be used to spy on you. The current XBL EULA includes the following. Keep in mind that the term "Services" will cover a much broader spectrum with the One. "If you use ... Kinect, we may also collect data about the way in which you interact with the console and the Services to improve Microsoft products and services." ...and this: "Personal information collected by Microsoft may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country or region in which Microsoft or its affiliates, subsidiaries, or service providers maintain facilities. You consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country or region." ...and of course: "we may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to: (a) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of Microsoft or our customers, including the enforcement of our agreements or policies governing your use of the Services; and (c) act on a good faith belief that such access or disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, customers, or the public." All of these terms subject to the interpretation of MS/govt lawyers. At least we can sleep sound in the knowledge that multinational corporations and government never abuse their powers or the public trust... right? It's not like Caspar Bowden knows WTF he's talking about... right?
Correction they are all out there to get your money. Till the day we do not see overpriced arcade/mini games and free mods, dlc they are still centered around your money and money grabbing.
"had alot riding on PS3... nearly destroyed them." wow, in what alternate universe did that happen? You know, it doesn't matter that they sold over 80 mil, surpassing the 360 with one year less on the market, doesn't matter how many Q1-Q4 reports they issue showing that gaming is one of their most successful tentpoles alongside their movie studios, it'll always be 2007. Dooooooom!
YOURE COMMENT IS STUPID
At the end of the day sony is just a company that want's money......the only difference between them and microsoft is that they are making there fans happy making people more willing to buy there console
"i'm not a fan of kinect by any means, but thinking MS was going to spy on people through the device is ridiculous." Look at everything we have discovered the NSA is doing to unconstitutionally spy on people worldwide. As little as a year ago most people said the idea of such activity was also ridiculous. Now look where we are. Welcome to 1984. Also bear in mind that Microsoft, one of the principle creators of Prism stated they would vigorously fight any attempt by government agencies to utilize Kinect for spying. That very statement is an admission such illegal information gathering is possible.
