Sonic Returning to TV in 2014

If you've been "waaaaaiting" for news of a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog series, that wait will soon be over. SEGA have today announced a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog TV series for Cartoon Network entitled Sonic Boom. The first episode will air in Autumn 2014, and a global roll-out will happen from there.

This is fantastic news for those that have been unable to function without the moral compass that is Sonic Sez.

And yes - that IS Knuckles.

New designs won't change Lost World (because there's a 12 month gap between them, although as noted in the article, some were worried it would), but naturally they're being tight lipped on future entries.

They've said the new designs are Boom exclusive... for now.

Voiced by Urkel / Jaleel White ?

matgrowcott1752d ago

Almost certainly not. They've said it'll be the game cast for the most part.

Although there's a fan movie that was teased earlier this year with Jaleel White.

For Cartoon Network....the channel which has went down the s****** for years, where all they really show now is crappy live action stuff, horrible CGI shows or stuff which is just bad to look at.

I miss the old Cartoon Network...before political correctness got in the way. I thought it was me growing up but looking at what old shows used to get away with and the ones today you can tell something is up

To be honest thought the entire kids channel on Sky has become crap. Nickelodeon and Disney do waaaaay too much live action cheesy crap. I don't see why each channel doesn't have an oldie channel or show old Cartoons late on at night.

Think the last old show which lasted the longest was Ed, Edd and Eddy. Least it got a proper send off with a movie.

"The new series will be made in CGI – an odd choice but one that might work –"

Oh look at that....what a surprise <sigh>

"Sonic Boom is described as a “character-driven comedy"

They said that about The Looney Tunes show and they ruined the franchise by turning it into a sitcom with hardly no good old fashioned Looney Tune violence/conflict

As I've just said below in the UK our Boomerang is crap

LOGICWINS1753d ago

Boomerang showcases many of the old Cartoon Network shows. But your right about CN, they've lost their edge. I'll never forget this animated sketch on Adult Swim in the 90s about a dog debating whether or not he should bite this woman's ass lol.

-Foxtrot1753d ago (Edited 1753d ago )

We don't get that in the UK, our version of Boomerang only feature shows like Mr Bean, My Spy Family, Gadget Boy and other crappy shows you can most likely see on other channels.

So basicaly it's all crap for us

You know what the worst part is you would think past 9.00pm they would start to show older Cartoons because what child will be up that late, yet they don't they show re runs of the crappy cartoons they showed in the morning. What kid is going to be up that late

I remember when Adult Swim used to be on aswell...hell it's when I still had cable instead of sky. It's where I start watching Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

You sound like you grew up watching Cartoon Network the same time as i did. I agree with everything you said.

-Foxtrot1753d ago

Cartoons were just better back then, hell even really old ones before my time like Scooby Doo and the Flintstones for example were better then stuff today. I still think it's got to do with political correctness, you can't get away with most stuff today then you could back then. Least old cartoons had small adult jokes only they would get

I HATE stuff like Adventure Time and the Regular show these days and how people try to say that the old Cartoon Network is back. Shows like that just rely on randomness for laughs and to be that isn't funny.
