Interview: Crytek on Ryse's filmic ambition

CVG:Crytek's Ryse has gone through many changes during its long development - from first-person Kinect brawler to third-person squad combat - but what hasn't changed is the focus on making the game as cinematic as possible. (Cevat Yerli, Ryse: Son of Rome, Xbox One)

I'd say this part I'm excited about, but they really haven't shown much of the story whatsoever. Sure a few bits here and there but in general they need like a sizzle reel in the same vein of what Game of Thrones had. Some kind of trailer that makes you WANT to find out what happens.

I feel they are saving some surprises for launch with regards to the story...cos I remember crytek releasing a photo reel of other characters in the game..none i have seen so far in all the videos released...

I prefer they stay quit on the story. It should make the game more interesting when I am playing it.

Did you know the details of GTA5 story before release? Okay then.

Yeah I see and I agree with you. That said I hope we get a new trailer before release. You know like Bungie have just done with Destiny even though its like 6 months away.

It kind of seems like they don't know wtf they want it to be?

Kinect brawler? QTE fest? Third person squad combat? x amount of polygons oh no wait less polygons? Now it's ment to be a film?

I'm waiting for Xbox to turn around a say actually it's going to be a FPS

FPS = First person sword game..... and they'll call it revolutionary

"Interview: Crytek on Ryse's filmic ambition"

Main ambition should be 1080p like most HD films!

People should stop with all those numbers. If a game looks beautiful, it looks beautiful. I couldn't be arsed that games ran at 720p current-gen, since they look fine. 720p isn't going to miraculously look worse now that 1080p should be the standard.

And since the scaler for the Xbox One is better than the 360 I am not worried.

Me too, but there is still so much we don't know about it :) Really curious to hear more about the SP and how long it will take to complete from start to finish.

Crytek has said they really wanted to focus on a good story for this game before and there's many characters involved who we haven't even seen yet

I really do hope there's a sequel if the game turns out good

I have a strong feeling they'll be more iterations
SuperLupe  +   734d ago

Its already in the works man. I see this becoming X1's Gears Of War.
lifeisgamesok  +   734d ago
Yeah thanks Superlupe I can honestly see Ryse being as big as Gears of War just look at all of the hype and how good it looks for a launch title

I can't remember the last time a launch game looked this good compared to the previous gen
