Call of Duty Not Representative of Military Life, says Ghost producer

The Call of Duty series has often prided itself on its realistic take on military warfare. However, as the years have gone on, they've veered away from a realism and moved more towards the Hollywood blockbuster territory seen in Call of Duty: Ghosts and its sci-fi elements.

They want to quickly dig themselves out of hole they've been digging all those years(year after year of modern military setting) while trying to avoid getting future titles being the default fall guy for real life shootings.

Several years ago courting controversy would play nicely into Activision's hand but now its far too risky when shootings seems to have a season of its own in real life. Not to mention that stiff competitions are popping out in droves for next gen.
