Super Mario 3D World runs at 720p

Nintendo confirmed today that the big Wii U holiday title, Super Mario 3D World, will run at 720p.

This is disappointing since mario kart 8 runs at 1080p and looks miles better.

Pikmin was 720p and looked fantastic. So I wouldn't necessarily worry too much.

Well even then from what little ive seen of mk8, it has much more detailed characters, shaders, effects in general.
This game doesnt need any of that but i still think 1080p would make this game a lot more impressive. In the past flagship mario games have been graphical showcases.

Did you see the footage from today? Mario 3D World looks stunning. Not MK8 level but it has much bigger levels with up to 12 player controlled characters on screen at once in addition to dozens of enemies. Sorta makes sense why its 720p.

I can't compare Mario Kart to Mario 3D World because I've played none of them, but I just wanted to point out that resolution isn't the only indicative for a game's graphic qualities.

God of War 3 and God of War Ascencion remain, to date, the best looking games on the PS3, very closely followed by Last of Us. And guess what? All three run at 720p.

Yeah, thats because there arent any ps3 games that run native 1080p except okami hd and rayman and stuff like that.
The wii u is probably 100% capable of running this game in 1080p if it can run mk8 and bayonetta 2 in 1080p. This is just a first with the 3d mario game looking worse than other games.

MK8 will be 720p. Nintendo hasn't advertised the resolution like they did with WWHD and Smash and their E3 build screenshots ran at that 720p.

I'm not going to lie but when they had Mario running around and the camera was closely zoomed in on him it looked great that way. Kinda like Super Mario 64 was when you could change the camera angle using the controller. This has me interested somewhat... ;)

Today's preview of the game looked amazing, in a way the worlds looked much like galaxy. And Peach throwing fireballs made my day. Very cool!

Really?! Damn, when I saw that trailer I was sure it was 1080p. But I guessed we should have expected this, it is the mario team's first HD game after all.
