Having Trouble With GTA Online? Here's A Tip

GTA Online has had a rough start, not surprisingly though considering the amount of players eager to get online but we have a quick solution that at least gives you a taste of the action (Grand Theft Auto Online, Grand Theft Auto V, PS3, Xbox 360)

Still doesn't work beyond Lamar dropping you off. The second you try to do that first race, issues arise once again.
UnholyLight  +   732d ago
I sat there for two hours lol.

meanwhile I get notifications about one of my friends posting world record times for missions and races

:/ I shoulda expected it but I REALLY WANNA PLAY

How did Rockstar not anticipate this....they should of prepared better
LOGICWINS  +   733d ago
They DID anticipate this. They said this was going to happen. This is what they wanted. They need to see how everything runs when the servers are packed. They expected the game to crash for most people. Now they will make the make the proper adjustments.

Wouldn't of been better to have a beta then so when it finally comes out all of us don't have to suffer after we've been waiting for it for ages

@ -Foxtrot

Unfortunately, no beta test can emulate the sheer volume of server bandwidth that they are facing. They don't want to "overbuy" servers just to make sure this is smooth on Day 1, they want to make it as efficient as possible. Not necessarily to avoid buying servers/bandwidth, but in order to ensure stability no matter what kind of hardware is behind it.

There's only so much they can do. If we had to pay a monthly fee for GTA Online, then I could understand the frustration - but, this was 100% expected and is being dealt with properly.

Suffer after waiting for ages? You make it sound like you've been waiting for a new kidney for the past year and a half. Consider yourself lucky that GTA Online will be offered for FREE. Considering its an ever expanding world starting with 700+ missions (with more to come), Rockstar could have EASILY charged $10 so people could access the online aspect.

We didnt even know GTA Online existed a month and a half ago. I dont understand how uve been "waiting for ages".

You people are a bunch of impatient whiners. Is your life THAT devoid of any other activity that you NEED to play the most ambitious online suite ever attempted on consoles just a few hours after it launches? After four years, the community on N4G continues to amaze me.

no beta test can emulate that? uh, that's the point of a beta. one of the biggest reasons for having betas for online games these days it to test servers. no excuses.
HammadTheBeast  +   733d ago
GTA O is part of the $60 purchase. I highly doubt the 700 missions are all different and varied, there's probably around 100 different ones.

They knew they would get tons of people playing, some preparation would've been nice.

Wow. It was a simple comment, bro. No need to be an a**hole about it...

This could be considered the beta.
orakle44  +   733d ago
yep, they def. anticipated this, as was stated by r* multiple times.

They knew this was going to happen and warned us like 4-5 days ago. Nobody listened though, I guess people don't read as much as they used to.
SeanScythe  +   732d ago
They were to busy swimming in the Billion+ $$ they made on the game. Then someone from the online team walked in and said "Hey the online for GTA5 is going live in 5 mins. Hope you guys remembered to buy the extra servers we needed over the last two weeks."
UrbanBullet  +   733d ago
Do you have to have a gold membership to play online?

Who said this was free? This was part of my $60 purchase. That's my only issue. I bought GTAV for the single player AND the multiplayer.
wickedthumbz  +   733d ago
They just stated a few days ago they didn't expect this many people to purchase the game and that we need to be patient. But they said this right before "this" happened I guess to soften the blow that we are being dealt. To put it simply Rockstar wrote a check that they couldn't cash. I don't think that GTA Online will EVER be what they promised us sadly. Honestly they should take some of the billions they made from us and get some dedicated servers for each console. That would fix and make things right for us, the people who supported this game.
JackStraw  +   733d ago
now if they had just released online with the SP, it would be working right now. good job R*.
KwietStorm  +   733d ago
And you know this how?
JackStraw  +   733d ago
um, logically if they released online back on the 17th and these issues were brought to light, they would've had 2+ weeks to solve the issue.s

so by your skeptical logical, this problem won't be solved in 2 weeks? think before you comment, kids.i know reading comprehension and thinking capacity is very limited on N4G, but just try. please?

After appearance settings it is asking for a name, and then it freezes
Ch1d0r1  +   732d ago
Tips lol this shit should work right off the bat. We shouldn't have to do shit like this. Still loving the single player though, hope they get things squared away soon.
MssyMckay  +   732d ago
I try to sign in to online on my 360 and it says I "don't have the correct permissions" an I can't find any answer or fix for this. Any takers in sharing some help?!
Cuders  +   732d ago
The issue is they hype up online and you anticipate to play it and there is always a issue. they have had long enough to resolve these issues. Im so disappointed in Gta V its ridiculous even though i love they game they can do better.
