Pre-Order Bonus for Sonic: Lost World Revealed

"Sonic has announced several pre-order incentives for those wishing to pre-order Sonic: Lost World from Gamestop. Unfortunately, these incentives are only available for the Wii U version so far, so you will not receive them when purchasing the 3DS version" -- Nintendo Enthusiast. (Sonic: Lost World, Wii U)

Disregarding past record, me too, but taking account of Sonic's shaky past, I'd put my money on Mario.

I'll probably get both anyway.

Did you see Amazon's pre-order bonus for this game?

"Pre-order Sonic Lost World and receive 25 extra lives. Never have to worry again when taking those risky leaps and jumps with this bumper pack of extra lives."

Pretty big WTF. Why do these games still even have lives? It's an outdated concept that needs to be done away with. At least the Rayman devs understood this.

Like on Galaxy, where you could have 30 lives and then turn the gameoff and next time you would only have 5. I don't mind the lives thing, but I agree with you.

Does anyone think that lives are an outdated game design? I recall Yahtzee's opinions on the lives system as stated in his Super Mario 3D Land/Rayman Origins review. "Kicking you back an arbitrary amount of gameplay time to fleece quarters that don't exist" and "wasting your time watching your character taking up self harm while being over the head with aggressively cheerful music."
The lives system was important for games in gen 1-4 since they were so short or arcade games to get kids to spend more quarters. NSMBW & NSMBU proved just how frustrating playing co-op with a lives system is; it's better not to have it.
