Harmonix: We'd love to make a next-gen Rock Band

Everybody Plays: "With the "next generation" of consoles now on the way in the shape of the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and with neither being backwards compatible with old games, we were beginning to think we were approaching the day we'd have to hang up our rocking boots for good.

But according to developers Harmonix, that's not necessarily true." (PS4, Rock Band 3, Wii U, Xbox One)

I'd buy it. But only if my previous stuff transfers over.

As the owner of an ION Kit, I'm in.

But it most likely wouldn't work with last gen peripherals...So the Ion kit would do nothing for you

I think we can only hope there'll be an adapter.

And I would purchase a next gen Rock Band, good sir.

Probably only buy the standalone game + a guitar. Never really used the other instruments..

I'd be down. All I'd get is the game + the guitar, since I don't really play the other stuff (though I did dabble with drums often, I do enjoying drumming).

It'd be great if the game would have the Pro Mode return, but let me use my real Strat like Rocksmith does, without having to buy some proprietary guitar for that purpose.

Sadly our current DLC won't carry over because of system limitations (pretty sure Sony & MS said DLC won't be able to transfer over like that) and the licensing fees for re-licensing all the music would be insane as well.

Another issue is the market... The success wouldn't be nearly as much as it was back in 2006-2009 when the "fad" was at its highest levels. For longtime fans of rhythm games, we'd eat it up. But the casuals would turn a blind eye to it.

I'm seriously considering picking up a cheap electric guitar and Rocksmith 2014

Rocksmith is a blast.

Just make sure you have a console setup that will fix the audio delay. Console->hdmi->TV is not a usable setup.

My one beef with rocksmith (delay aside) is that it makes all the tones sound like your playing a humbucker guitars. (Compressed)
Obviously, if it's tracking like midi then most guitars will sound the same. I just prefer single coil tones outside the game.

The improvements in the 2014 edition make it look phenomenal for learning.

If done right it would be cool, we need games that are just for silly party fun( New Years Eve)
