Nintendo's iconic game designer reveals that work on a new project has begun involving key members of the Zelda franchise.
<sarcasm> One wonder what they will come up with this time : maybe a game involving a big earred princess, a horse and a green dressed elf lookalike, they might even throw a giant gorilla and a plumber in the mix, you never know, they're so creative nowadays it's crazy... this time i'd like to see a game involving swords/ a castle and a water temple, maybe they can even use the wiimote to mimick sword attacks? they may even play okami until the end to ripoff new things from this marvellous game... </sarcasm> Nintendo really needs to come up with something new and awesome or Pikmin wii ;)
Agreed completely. Nintendo has strong franchises, that is not in doubt. With every new Nintendo console comes the inevitable sequels, Mario Kart, Zelda and so on. They need some new original content.
That is me up there
KICK ASS. I would buy a new Zelda every 6 months if possible.
bring on the new zelda already.
"maybe a game involving a big eared princess, a horse and a green dressed elf lookalike"
if we look it from this perspective, then i think FF is always about "saving" the world with an RPG system, GTA is nothing but a freeroaming game and some story attached.......
of course they need to make more characters, but you make it sound like they really aren't doing anything new, try looking thorough their franchise icons and pay attention to the ingame elements
the last Zelda - Nothing really new or innovative, just Zelda with waggle. Still pretty good though
the last mario - Classic mario with a new gimmick, oh well, at least it beats the water gun. (I still love this game)
Metroid - More scanning! ^-^ Oh and some unresponsive motion controls yay!
They do need some new games and ideas.
Have you played zelda on the GBA? the minish cap?
Phantom hour glass?
So TP looked allot liked OOT....so what? it was a fun game right?
I really dont see the problem, they are fun and we give our money so we can play these games......then what are the complaints really about?
" maybe a game involving a big earred princess, a horse and a green dressed elf lookalike,"
Why cry about they need to make "new" characters, if its the gameplay making us come back for more.
With in the game of zelda there are plenty of side characters who have a new face, new foes etc etc.
Again, if we buy these games because they are fun....then why whine about something like : Nintendo isnt making new characters.
Of course its welcome, but...why do people scream for more Halo?? Jack and daxter?? Megaman?? etc etc...
As long nintendo makes quality games i really dont see a problem them using their icons over and over.
You say it's ok to recycle the characters over and over again aslong as the games stay fun, but in reality the games whilst still fun are getting rather stale. They can't ride the same horses over and over again.
I mean look at the Zelda franchise, since OOT and MM, the games have gotten comparatively worse. Even though Twilight Princess is a great game, it's definately not going up there as one of the greatest games of all time. Nintendos franchises, simply put are lacking the impact they used to have, and THAT is why they need some new games.
For me, it isn't about new characters. It's about new realms, absorbing storylines and exciting new ways to play which can draw me in and steal a million hours from my life without me even caring.
" I mean look at the Zelda franchise, since OOT and MM, the games have gotten comparatively worse"
actually I liked Windwaker more then OOT, ofcourse it didn't gave me the same impact as i had with LTTP( and for others with OOT) !BUT! ...i cant even explain it.....after finishing the game ..i directly started over.......it was that of a good game to me.
^ opinion based, so it differs with many people
" It's about new realms, absorbing storylines and exciting new ways to play which can draw me in and steal a million hours from my life without me even caring."
I never disagreed on this, its rather that people complain about " old " characters.... but to me( this is also opinion based) the games are still fun, and to me Nintendo hasn't lost their touch with their franchise.
Maybe not you, but i bet their are others who agree with me, and don't mind spending their money on games they just cant get enough of.
you cant deny the fact that Nintendo tried different things, like they did with Wind waker, Mario kart double dash, but only a small group could actually appreciate it.
While gameplay are similar, they always have something different in there.
Every zelda game i've played felt fresh and new, while i've been playing the basic gameplay almost my whole life.
They make quality games.
Also pikmin and battalion wars...and chibi robo???? not sure about the last one but these games came later in the GCN's life cycle, showing that Nintendo is indeed making new stuff, and i see no reason why they wont think of new IP's for the Wii.
you know if nintendo makes something new ill buy a wii a different type of adventure game or something. i love nintendos games they usually are fun.
So there goes the rumor that a new zelda is coming out for holiday 08. Twilight princess was enjoyable. I am a huge nintendo nerd, and am drooling at the thought of a new Zelda game, but seriously, Nintendo needs a new character. I mean captain olimar was simple, childish, but hell was it cool to see him in Brawl.
