Review: Final Fantasy XIV (New Gamer Nation)

Back in 2010, Square Enix released their second MMO; Final Fantasy XIV. It didn’t just fail, it was a catastrophe. It had almost entirely negative critic reviews, claiming it was a horrendous experience not to be touched. Most companies may chalk it up to a loss and move on, but Square Enix did something pretty risky. They took the game off the servers and claimed they would redo the entire thing in version 2.0, better known now as A Realm Reborn. It seemed like this was beating a dead horse and Square Enix had other projects to work on that made redoing an already failed game a waste of time. Well, A Realm Reborn was released only a few weeks ago and it shocked the world by how incredible it actually was. Square Enix has one of the greatest comeback tales in video game history by not giving up on their product to recreate one hell of a MMO. (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, PC, PS3) 8/10

After playing 1.0 for about a year and now having ARR for about a month and leveling a new class and crafter to 50 I'd give the game an 8.5, but sadly I'd give the community 2/10. It's too bad constant rage quits after being qued up for an hour no socializing going on (people don't even say hi while joining parties most if the time). It just feels like why am I playing this online if I don't interact with humans. Idk if its just legacy servers or if its the same for new players but so far if you factor n the community this game really isn't worth investing time and money into.

Hopefully others are having a better time but for me I won't be resubscribing.

It's not just the community but even the game itself. Who wants to do fates from level 1 to 50, seven more times after leveling one class to max level? The leveling system in this game is tedious and boring and the same can be said for obtaining end game gear.

You aren't really paying for anything here but unnecessary as well as time consuming grinding developed by SE to keep players subscribed to their game. It's like I said to someone before, AF2 gear isn't difficult to get, SE just put a cap on the amount of tomes you could recieve so you would buy a subscription to play longer to acquire it.

The game is about a 7.5/10, I've played a lot of better mmos and many of them were F2P.
