New Forza Motorsport 5 Gameplay Video Shows a Rollover for the First Time, and it Rolls a Lot

Many gameplay videos of Forza Motorsport 5 surfaced (including a direct feed one released yesterday that had a crash, but the cars remained steadily horizontal), but there's one element that was never never really seen: rollovers.

Does that mean that sending your car spinning in the air is too difficult? That sure doesn't seem the case looking at the off-screen gameplay video surfaced today from Eurogamer Expo, that shows a Ferrari rolling over, a lot. (Forza Motorsport 5, Xbox One)

Looking beautiful as always.

I'll agree to that.
dantesparda  +   510d ago
So nobody notices all the aliasing eh? Hm, interesting. Im not saying its a bad looking game, but lets not get carried away.
PraxxtorCruel  +   519d ago
Looking beautiful! Damn!
PFFT  +   519d ago
Wow man the game looks freaking beautiful!

Amazing game

Physics powered by cloud :D

Seriously you dont get a Ferrari to roll by driving like that. Didn't Turn10 claim they have great and realistic physics? That's on par with GT5 physics.
mhunterjr  +   519d ago
How would you roll one?
SniperControl  +   519d ago
Just thinking that.

Nice physics, and people complained about GT5's damage model.

That car should have been a total write off, Ferrari's are made from carbon fibre and Aluminum composites. Soft materials designed to collapse on impact.

I work for a well known car maker in the UK, i showed this to some of the design guys, they just laughed.

Atleast they know it's a game and didn't take it to seriously right?

:D
SniperControl  +   519d ago
@B-radical

Bu bu bu forza is the most realistic simulation racer ever........

:)
DOMination-  +   519d ago
Nobody has ever claimed that about Forza. The franchise has always been a hybrid with an emphasis on fun and progression.

At least in Forza, they reward you with a car to do the next series when you win and don't force you to grind out 20 races to earn enough money to buy a car like in GT (the only complaint I have with GT, which presentation/menus aside, I think is excellent also)
Mike134nl  +   519d ago
The thing with damage on branded cars is that almost all manufacturers do not want to have their cars shown as heavily damaged in racing games (such as forza and GT). Hence the use of minimalistic damage models on branded cars such as Ferrari etc.

I would love to see a car game with soft-body physics. Game developers are lazy, which is why we never get one. But this gen... if something comes forward, I'll be all over it!

Check this out:

Wowzers.
SniperControl  +   519d ago
@malokevi

Impressive.

There was another tech demo of a car tumbling down a large hill, it had panals and other parts flinging off it as it deformed with damage?
Cant remember where I saw it.
Computersaysno  +   519d ago
You would have to hit something to launch it to make it roll like that. Unrealistic. The car would just spin round and round not somersault like it's a gymnast.
timotim  +   519d ago
Considering cars don't roll at all in other games, id call Forza closer to realistic than their competition.
Computersaysno  +   519d ago
Cars roll in other games :-/
tigertom53  +   519d ago
Any car going 100 mph hitting the dirt would flip like that
OrangePowerz  +   519d ago
If it hits dirt that would make the car sink into it like gravel on F1 tracks, but thats not the case there the tires don't get buried in gravel or sand to flip the car over and the curb is flat.
torchic  +   519d ago
no

a Ferrari (no less Ferrari's flagship) would get buried in the gravel trap, just as OrangePowerz said.

I would never expect a modern Ferrari to have body roll.
Hicken  +   519d ago
I wasn't gonna watch the video at first, but geez...

Yeah, sorry, but that doesn't happen. Hell, even years before NASCAR added all the flaps to prevent cars from flipping, drivers could go through the infield sideways at greater than 100mph without flipping.

And in that gravel? Yeah, it DEFINITELY wouldn't start rolling like that. That's just crazy.
strigoi814  +   519d ago
Yup that roll is 100%?? My goodness he is only at 100mph
4logpc  +   519d ago
I just want to sit and stare at the cars in autovista or whatever its called now.

They should turn that into a screensaver

Its like the car has no suspension at all...100mph only and a ferrari??? Honda only spin out on a curb like that and never flips and roll...here watch this and learn Turn 10 my goodness

Broburger  +   519d ago
needs more anti-aliasing
tuglu_pati  +   519d ago
really? you saw aliasing on this video? Troll much?
srd4484  +   519d ago
Looks great. That's what happens when you go 100mph and make a sharp cut on the dirt. YOU FLIP
RyanShutup  +   519d ago
Nah, you'd probably just slide pretty far, the tires would have to grip something for it to flip... game looks sweet tho... just sayin' ;)
srd4484  +   518d ago
uneven ground will make your car flip. Can't wait to play it though.
darksky  +   519d ago
Do all ferrari's have a mirror like underside?
svoulis  +   519d ago
http://i.imgur.com/Mfgs5br....

Am I the ONLY one who saw that? Really? I mean with all the attention to detail they do on the cars.. This looks just plain LAZY (but is probably done cause you hardly see the underside of the car).

I mean come on...

I know most racing games do this but I wanna see detail not a giant texture spread across the bottom.
tuglu_pati  +   519d ago
I noticed that too. horrible.
PFFT  +   519d ago
lol i guess people werent suppose to see underside of the cars themselves. QUICK Turn10 fix this roll over bug before launch.
svoulis  +   519d ago
I just wanna see some PIPES :GRUNT:
jatakk  +   519d ago
Trolling much?? If you have ANY clue about the Ferrari F12 you'd know it has a FLAT undercarriage in real life also! They've made it this way because of better aerodynamics!
PFFT  +   519d ago
lol im not trolling im joking.
JOLLY1  +   519d ago
So you've never seen a carbon fiber underside on a ferrari before?
torchic  +   519d ago
the game looks great but why does Turn 10 have to go so overboard with the reflections? that paint looks overly glossy and thus far too many reflections.

I'm not bagging on the game but those sort of lighting effects are last gen (or current gen? basically the PS3/360 gen). when you look at Project Cars & Driveclub car models may not look as shiny shiny and spectacular but the lighting is far more realistic thus making cars look more like what you'd see everyday IRL

black metallic paint does not reflect like that. otherwise the game looks stellar and really like the sound effects a lot (miles better than Gran Turismo please fix them Polyphony)

Very nice love the way it dug in will try it full speed down the straight when it comes out.
Trekster_Gamer  +   518d ago
As usual the Sony circle jerk trolls are jealous so they try to slam this most awesome game. Maybe they will get a gt6 1/2 way through the ps4 life cycle.......
