Expect GTA Online launches issues, says Rockstar

Rockstar Games is readying the servers as it prepares to launch GTA Online on October 1. (Grand Theft Auto Online, PS3, Xbox 360)

They should've released a beta and avoid the negative reviews and bad reactions from millions of gamers around the globe.
dazzrazz  +   706d ago
They have a internal beta running for a long time
Insomnia_84  +   706d ago
Internal, not public.
tigertron  +   706d ago
but you can't properly stress test the servers with an internal beta.

Hopefully Rockstar spent the last couple of weeks buying more servers...

Anyway, I hope everything is ok, though like Rockstar I do expect there to be issues with everyone trying to connect at once.

Uhh... Isn't that known as alpha testing? Beta is a public testing phase.
PrimeGrime  +   706d ago
@Ginn

No.

Alpha and beta are just that, stages of testing, nothing more. It has nothing to do with it being public or not, you could have both public alpha and beta testing if you wanted to, as well as closed alpha and beta testing.

Well at least they are being honest about it, unlike some other game developers that I wont mention! EAt that other developers!!
aiBreeze  +   706d ago
I just hope it's them being honest and not just coming clean from testing the capabilities of their servers and realizing that they clearly aren't up to the standard required to handle the amount of people about to play.

EA (im guessing thats what you mean since you wrote EAt)
does atleast have public beta's for Battlefield and so on......
creeping judas  +   706d ago
Yes they do, but every EA game's online crashes and doesnt work properly the 1st week it's out.
Are_The_MaDNess  +   706d ago
never happend to me.
not with BFBC2, BF3, ME1,2,3, Simcity or any other game i can recall that had a huge problem
George Sears  +   706d ago
Main issue I could think off right at bat for a massive franchise like this would probably be server overload.
Are_The_MaDNess  +   706d ago
server load and framerate with crazy stuff happening......
i can already see my game have frame drops in the single player (around 5FPS but still noticeable). how well will it be in the online part when 5-10 people have RPG's and blow shit up?
drsfinest72  +   706d ago
Rockstar is just so amazing. I'm sure they would find a quick fix and it won't be like FF XIV launch or SIM city.. etc
Daz  +   706d ago
I need more psn friends lol for this game.
Single player is a blast at the moment.

They better have a lot of servers prepped and ready, because, come October 1, a veritable tidal wave of gamers will be jumping into GTAO.
0pie  +   706d ago
Humm im not gonna try to go online on oct 1 unless i heard there is no prob. I dont say the online will sucks but the fact that a lot of people will try to go online at the same time, i doubt everyone will be able to go online.

But i really cant wait to try this online mode ! :)
steve30x  +   706d ago
I'll hold off for a few weeks until the online problems get sorted
