Ryse's PvP scrapped in favor of Gladiator: Blood-Brothers co-op mode

Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome included a PvP mode before it was scrapped in favour of the Gladiator: Blood-Brothers cooperative mode.

"We jumped on the gladiator two-player co-op mode set in the colosseum," Crytek producer Mike Read told Polygon. "We tried the whole PvP thing but it really wasn't fun, so we decided to move it over to waves of gladiatorial combat; but there are no lions or tigers."

Read couldn't immediately share the details of why PvP was scrapped in favour of co-op, only saying that the short reason is, "we tried it out and it wasn't really much fun."

The story is too old to be commented.

Wait, so we can't just line up 16 x 16 and attack each other TDM style ?

Isn't that the appeal of this game ? or supposed to be ?

So a kind of Co-Op Horde Mode only?
No kind of PVP AT ALL?

Thats a real downer. :/ No matter how good AI can be unless they have over 100 different types of moves (hyperbole) they can be read and easily killed as you gain experience, unless they have alot of cheap tricks up their sleeve.

Well it's obvious, they need to cut fun stuff out...
....just to make the game look good.

FFA, TDM, Survival would have been better, but crytek cant do that.

Naw.. I'm glad they didn't do it. . . The single-player will benefit from the exclusion of competitive multi-player... Time is expensive.

I totally agree.

I'm buying Ryse, but I have tons of other games that I will be playing online instead.

To me, this is kinda a Assassins Creed scenario. (which I've tried the MP) Where as I'm definitely getting the game, with zero intensions of touching the MP.
