Edge- Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Review

Edge:There is a formula at work in every MMOG. This is usually thought of from the developer’s perspective: the systems and structures a game uses to funnel a large number of people into a large amount of content and keep them there. The player’s side of the equation is subtler: what type of person do you need to be to settle on one MMOG as opposed to another? Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is one part traditional fantasy MMOG, one part Final Fantasy game. One part console, one part PC. To fit into its formula, you’ll need to fit that pattern as well. (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, PC, PS3) 6/10

Do they mention the endgame? Because it's awful. I loved the game until I hit 50.

Find a better group or become a better player. Then you can beat the hard primals and do the Binding Coil.

There is also those other jobs to level. Maybe buying a MMORPG at launch just isn't for you. Wait until the first big update or expansion pack next time.

All your classes are 50? Wow. Game has been out a month, I've been 50 for a while too. Work on other stuff until the next massive patch with endgame stuff is released, in what...two weeks?

Wait for the next patch.

Despite Final Fantasy XI being a horrible grind fest, it's still Square's most profitable title ever. And the Final Fantasy guys loved it despite sneering at other MMOs, because chocobos.

"There will always be people for whom levelling a White Mage means more than levelling a wizard, for whom the Prelude arpeggio isn’t just main menu music. If that’s you, and you like what the MMOG genre brings to the table, then Final Fantasy XIV promises to last much longer. After all, you fit the formula."

If that's you, 10/10. Edge nails it.

Edge demonstrates once more that they have absolutely no idea on how to review a game.

I agree with You mate. I have been playing daily since early access day one and still only lvl30 on my main, but thats cos Im trying to enjoy the game. Trying out all of the features, exploring world and slowly leveling all 19 clases.
Game looks amazing and community is nice, not to mention its most hyped game at MMORPG.COM
