Gameranx: "Momentum for Ghosts is proceeding well says Hirshberg."
You got a lot of convincing to do! We're all playing GTA V!
It will still sell like in 2008 when gta IV was out.
Lol @ all the disagrees.. he speaks the truth.. sadly. Besides, They have so much more innovative possibilities.. fish? dogs? think of all the other animals ai they can add to the game to revolutionize the series!
Tactical Otters, calling it now.
Not dying but it is in decline. After MW2 the hardcore started to dislike it. And then Black Ops 2 was the first modern COD to sell less than its predecessor, so this means the casual gamer has realized that the game has grew stagnate. So in other words Madden isn't dead but it's just not what it use to be. Halo isn't dead but it's just not what it is use to be.
I wouldn't say that it's dying. It may slow down some but it's far from dying.
As long as there's dudebros, there will be CoD. It's sad, but true.
dudebro eh? *google search*
How can you say a franchise is dying when it breaks sales records for the last 3 releases?
BO2 didnt break MW3 Record
Im pretty sure when you are mostly competing against your own franchise for breaking sales records...its still a good sign.
IM pertty black ops 2 sould more then mw3 also out sold the movie star wars
http://www.ibtimes.com/acti... Nope,the game break MW3 record too.
Financially no? in the hearts of gamers? it has been long dead.
lol i guess you are wrong!! who is buying it then? gamnerz ;=)
No, cod fans. would you consider the people who went out and bought guitar hero until they were sick of it gamers? no, they were guitar hero fans.
This is true. I know a couple of people that play nothing but Call of Duty. For years now, every time I'm signed in, they're playing COD. They play 1 different game per year at most.
gamer = "I enjoy fps's as well as rpgs, mmos, racing and platforming games." COD fan = "x < COD"
you can still be both but i get what you're saying
@davethedj Gamers? You know how many girls on fb are like "playing cod lol" just because everyone else plays it? A lot of my friends don't even play other games. They just play cod. I don't consider them serious gamers either. BF4 is catching up. That takes more skill to play and that is why it doesn't get as many sells.
you shouldn't care what other ppl play...unless ur playing competetively, don't comment on what takes skill
Well, last time I checked, most people play games to have fun not to "show their skills". If it's fun, people are going to play it. If it's not, then they wont. BTW, who put you in charge of deciding whether someone is a serious gamer (oxymoron) or not? The fact that a lot of people play COD is a testament to the fact that it is fun for those people. Play what you want and let others play what they want. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's not a fun game. BTW, I'm personally burned out on it (have been for several versions now) and not buying the next version.
@iiwii So you are saying that people who play farmville should be consider gamers? I'm not telling people what they can and can't play, but it does piss me off when people say "I'm a gamer!" when they play cod and barely even play it. Just because I can cook doesn't make me a chef.
I don't care what people play. But yes, by definition, if they play Farmville daily they are a gamer, even if you don't like it or agree with it. But I don't think you were talking about Farmville. You were calling out COD fans and saying they were not gamers. Video games and gamers have been around a LOT longer than the FPS genre has and BF does not set the definition of who is a gamer and who is not. Don't be so quick to label people you don't even know. I would say it's elitist attitudes like yours that put more people off from trying BF than anything else.
Love it or hate it, COD isn't going anywhere for awhile.
Idk man ive been reading on various forums and videos and it seems most 12 year olds are mad cuz no.more quickscoping and arent buying it xD.
Nah they'll buy it, say it's the best COD yet, then hate it in about 7 months and go back to the last COD, and call that one underrated. Then they'll rinse and repeat this cycle, buying every dlc in between, for the rest of eternity.
Uh huh... Because fish AI really revitalized the franchise, right?
no, I think credits go to the chopper take-down dog! http://img.gawkerassets.com...
Fish and dog jokes you must be soooo clever to think of such an AMAZINGLY OUTSTANDING innovative and creative masterpiece of a Joke. I bow down to you my humble, forgiving and gracious sire. Please further humble me with your amazingly thought of intelligent words of wiZdom. I shall consider your every whim.
No, its already dead.
eh storyline looks awesome, might get to expand my soon to be small PS4 game collection when kit comes out.
CoD has it's fun side. If you like quick arcade shooters and pick up and play games than CoD is a great game. It is pretty much the same thing every year but honestly I just played CoD4 to compare it to BO2 and there where huge changes. Don't believe me? check it out for yourself. Anyways, I think it has it's place. Time to get off the hate train for many people. It's starting to be not cool to hate on CoD. Don't like it??? Don't buy it. No one is forcing you. There are other options.
Really no point in hating on it anymore. So long as there are ignorant gamers cod will sell.
So because people like a game you don't, they're ignorant? Wow.. I mean really?? Smh... You might just be the most ignorant person here. But I won't call you that because of your preference... Just only based on your ignorant behavior... The only way in which you should be able to judge someone's ignorance. Not by their game choice.
No, the franchise isn't dying, the new series/games isn't as fun as CoD4. Nostalgic.
Yes it is.
Care to back that up with a statement? Considering its one of the biggest video game francishes weather or not its enjoyable by core gamers?
Your picture is hilarious. Also I agree, I hope this franchise dies with this gen...
Scroll over his user profile and there will be this little box with "..." on it
Ghost looks really bad as in not good bad
as apposed to the good bad or not the good bad? Wait what im confused now
we are waiting for you ghost
It's irritating but this series sadly still attracts the same idiots. It's like the iPhone of gaming.
don't even get me started on these fools camping out for the same iphone........AGAIN! SMH
What's with all the "I hate popular stuff" attitudes? No wonder you nerds get a rep for having no friends and living in your mothers basements. Anyway, what's with the title change? The original title when I made the first comment was "COD still growing in size and engagement" and it was changed to "COD is not a dying franchise". I guess the first title didn't generate enough hits. Gotta pay them bills somehow, right Gameranx? (/rant)
I has nothing to do with hating what's popular; It's the fact that not much has changed since COD 4.
I plan on buying the next few CODs because it's fun and personally better than Battlefield. People play Madden and 2K basketball every year and they're still going on strong. The only other FPS game that'll catch my attention is Titanfall.
We always say we won't buy another call of duty. But we still end up buying it. We gotta stand up as one and fight the power!
Lets see if it makes a seamless transition to next gen or if gets beaten by games like Titanfall or its direct competitor Battlefield 4.
Sure thing bro!
I don't get all the hate for CoD. It's the Quake of the 2000's. It's become a sports franchise, kind of like Paintball. Paintball is awesome in real life but try Greg Hastings game and you'll see how the fun doesn't translate well. Now make a paintball game in a military setting a la CoD and you have a masterpiece. What I'm trying to say is, take it for what it is. Don't try to make it something it's clearly not.
Activision's CEO of publishing Eric Hirshberg has said the Call of Duty franchise remains strong "long after all the sceptics thought it would start to falter"... only because people continue to mindlessly pump money into our franchise and as long as they keep doing it, we will keep recycling the same game over and over again.... mmmoo hoo hoo haa haa haaaaaa!
Well it began to fall when they have chosen to ignore World War 2 Games.
If they made a hd remake of cod 4 I would totally buy it. Hands down my favorite! Plus I liked the simplicity of the guns( less customization) and killstreaks.
Well this is probably best so as to keep all of the loudmouth CoD douches isolated from the other popular and arguably much better online games.
They are right in the fact that Cod is not a dying franchise because there are still millions of drones out there who eat Activision's s*** every year.
I like eating proverbial shit...but not activision's...or gearbox's...hmm, I know there are others but nothing is coming to mind right now.
True and Mikey Deys isnt closing any burger joints either, doesnt mean you both dont spit out crappy products over and over.
What I am really interested to see is how they feel about releasing another COD in 12 months time after titanfall, BF4, KZ:SF and destiny have made their impacts. I have a hard time believing COD will be the dominant FPS next november, and who knows what next E3 will bring. Exciting times ahead.
COD will die if it will continue to have the same run & gun game. The game is good to play but you'll get tired after shooting & shooting while running around which leave you like running in circles.
"Activision: Call of Duty is Not a Dying Franchise" LOL!!! Yeah, neither is Assassin's Creed! LOL!!
