Hiroshi Yamauchi – The Man Who Gave the Game Industry 1UP

"Last Thursday, September 19, 2013, former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi passed away at the age of 85, at a hospital in Kyoto, Japan, after suffering complications from pneumonia. To say that this man had a huge impact on the video game industry, after running Nintendo for over 50 years, would be a massive understatement." - Brian Acebedo of Str N Gaming (GameCube, Hiroshi Yamauchi, Industry, Nintendo, Nintendo DS)

This man made a HUGE impact on my life. He is responsible for one of the largest influences on gaming as a whole that any one individual can account for. RIP Yamauchi-san.

I feel like the creative folks get a lot of kudos, and rightly so. But Yamauchi was an example of how influential the suits are, and how important it is for corporate leadership to have vision. Without his foresight, we wouldn't have seen the NES. RIP Yamauchi
