Over 2,000 Attend Hiroshi Yamauchi's Memorial in Japan

Tynan Muddle at Aussie-Gamer writes: "Following the sad passing of Nintendo chairman Hiroshi Yamauchi, who led the company as CEO for over 50 years before handing the reins to Satoru Iwata in 2002, over 2,000 people attended the memorial which was held in Japan on Saturday." (Industry, Nintendo)

The man was like a Don. A true leader in the Japanese gaming landscape. Too bad he's gone, now there's no one to keep an eye on Iwata and the current state of Nintendo.

May your Nintendo live long and prosper and your family comforted and know that you made people smile by bringing us Miyamoto, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Pokemon and I could go on and on.

You gave Nintendo a face. Trusted mascots that brought us happiness. For you and your faith in their work, I thank you.

You're like a dad to me Mr. Yamauchi. I grew up playing your games, especially Mario and Zelda on NES. You thought of or green lighted so many quality video games with characters that brought games into the mainstream. The industry would not be where it is today without you. We owe you big time. Thank you.
