IGN writes: "The original Spectrobes was quite the hit when it was released on the Nintendo DS last year. It was the best-selling third party game on the platform in 2007. Disney has been listening to fan feedback in the hopes of making the sequel even better. We recently got to take a look at the game in action and came away impressed with the care being put into Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals.
The main characters Rallen and Jeena are returning for another round. The basic flow of gameplay remains the same: land on a planet, explore, fight some monsters, dig for Spectrobes... Developer Jupiter is back at the reigns. The game retains the clean, anime style of the first outing. Environments are rendered in 3D and sport a nice amount of detail."
