Deep Down Tokyo Game Show play test report

Deep Down will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show this week. Japanese outlets, however, got an early hands-on with the upcoming PlayStation 4 title. Below is our translation of 4Gamer.net‘s report. (Deep Down, PS4)

Nice report. Very detailed even down to the button layout and controls...

Nice read and very thorough indeed. I didn't know they were letting people/journalist play it already.

Can't wait to see more.

Incredible looking game with real action and not just a series of QT's. Awesome exclusive. Can't wait to play it on my PS4.

Sounds quite promising. I'm guessing the combat will be quite slow paced and methodical which is welcome. I'm a big fan of randomly generated content in games but I hope that after a while with it the 'easier' or 'simpler' dungeons will cease to be.

Not entirely, just for experienced players.

very demon and dark souls like, which is great!!

the automatically-created dungeons remind me a bit of Persona though.

I remember either star ocean 3 or maybe grandia xtreme doing this (PS2 era)

Sounds great, especially with expansive maps and random enemies, traps, or items everytime we re-enter the dungeons. Man, can't wait to see more gameplay vid for Deep Down ^^

This interested me more than anything else. Singleplayer?:

"The demo only offered single-player, so the anticipated online play remains veiled. The whole of Deep Down has yet to be revealed, but the graphically impressive battle scenes are rich and worth seeing. If you are planning on attending the Tokyo Game Show, I recommend heading to the PlayStation booth and trying Deep Down out for yourself"

I prefer playing with friends but it would be nice if it has an offline option as well. I think it's online simply because it's meant to have updates to the quest and world on a consistent basis or something. Like they'll be continuously adding more challenges over time.

So, the game definitely isn't open world then I guess. You just warp to different dungeons from the home base it seems. Should still be a fun game, especially with multiplayer. I'd love for them to make an open world Dragon's Dogma type multiplayer game too though.
