Maxis has teased that the "future" of SimCity will be revealed in two days time.
Some games force online-only measures onto people. It sucks! Especially when some titles, like these seven, 100% didn't need it.
The following is an excerpt from Chapter 5 of The Secret History of Mac Gaming, “Simulated.”
EA has something of a reputation when it comes to awkwardly handling much-loved franchises. Here are 7 that Screen Critics feel they ruined.
Need for Speed as well. Here's to hope that the new one will be a return to form for the franchise.
My scrotum twists with anticipation - the future of the city builder MMO hybrid that NOBODY asked for may be on its way? How will I survive under such duress....
In all seriousness this sort of bullshit - e.g. "in three weeks we're gonna tweet the date that we play a trailer that'll confirm the existence of another trailer that'll confirm a game we've been working on for barely three months so sorry no actual gameplay footage of any kind" - only really works for games that didn't just drop their pants and squeeze out bubbly diarrhea all over a party table's punch bowl.... proverbially speaking that is. Point is when you fuck up as badly as these guys you go from looking like Jessica Alba to looking like Eddie Izzard in drag. Giggling and teasing your skirt hoping to attract the same sort of attention you did in your pre-fuck up days is just kind of sad and very unattractive.
Come out with a fix... some sort of acknowledgment that simcity should NEVER again allowed to be online only and THEN discuss the future. Until then stuff like this just fills me with contempt for the developer and their future projects.
