Grand Theft Auto: One of Britain's finest cultural exports?

William Shakespeare, Edward Elgar, The Beatles, James Bond... Grand Theft Auto?

The list of cultural icons from this "small island" is world-changing, formidable, unmatched - and so to put a video game into the same sentence as those mentioned above may be considered daring.

The story is too old to be commented.

@Duddy101
Insular American per chance?

For all those who know little about the world they live in:

Great Britain: England, Scotland, Wales

United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland

(arranged in size)

lol, something made in England - English. Something made in Scotland, 'British'.

Someone proud of being Scottish - MUST be American sticking their nose in.

@Angeljuice
Complex issues, anyone?

wheresmymonkey1108d ago

no something made in britain = british. doesn't matter what part of the island its made in.

If you look at the article it includes cultually significant exports from all four countries that make up the uk.

"[It] clearly shows they are now on a par with film, television and animation, and deserve to be treated as such."

Try telling that to Roger Ebert.
