It was a mixed bag for the gaming industry in August 2013 for software and a dismal for hardware; software sales rose 21% while hardware fell by 40% YOY.

It's all a market curve. Hardware sales are going down because the next gen's about to launch and game sales are going up because everyone who wanted a current gen console has one and is buying games.
