Grand Theft Auto, First Big Game Of Holidays, Starts Strong

The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V, which comes out Tuesday, has garnered near universally positive reviews from critics. That suggests a strong start to the game industry’s holiday season.

If GTAV’s score stays at or above 98, it will be the best-reviewed release for the Xbox 360 of all time, said Michael Pachter, an analysts at Wedbush Securities. He estimates the game will sell 14 million units in the quarter that ends Sept. 30. Most games considered to be successful usually sell a fraction of that amount. (Grand Theft Auto V, PS3, Xbox 360)
