GameZone writes, "Naughty Dog is being a naughty tease, showing off a picture of 120 PS4 devkits that arrived at the office today."
Get them out and get to work you NaughtyDogs
120 'more' - sheesh. They must be getting it in with the PS4. Can't wait to see what the game is.
I actually hope it's for a new IP. They nailed it with The Last Of Us. To tell the truth, I could do without another Uncharted. Even though I loved them. Kind of the same way I could do without another GearsOW. Good game, still don't want it. Talent like Naughty Dogs' shouldn't be used on sequels.
BTW this is for Naughty Dog's 2nd team, the ones that made TLoU, their other team is likely far into PS4 development
Ha! I like this kind of twitter post story. Knowing how fast developing games on PS4 will also makes this pretty significant, we'll be seeing/hearing about their new title sooner rather than later. Might even be playing it before the end of 2014.
???DEVKITS 120 do that mean they have 120 chances in making new ip's?? or in case they mess-up have 119 more to use???? help
Devkits are used by developers to play their game; they are typically close to the specs of a standard console (usually with a slight bump in specs; to accommodate additional tools being used). Each developer and the testers will need access to a devkit; in order to play the game. This is especially the case with games in development; as you are typically emulating from your computer or running it off a flash drive; they also enable a whole set of development tools to be used. They also feature a long list of debug settings; for Playstation kits in particular; the debug options are usually very vast. These are all aspects you cannot really do with a regular console. You also have the option to limit the extra RAM and make the console run closer to the specs of the final hardware.
No it's just software for there computers that is it .
It's just a box show the SYSTEM
120 MORE? Damn, do they have any job openings?
Why, will they have 118 by the end of your 1st day?
Along with collectibles, and whatever I can find, lol
Just make sure you share with the class and take a lot of pictures.
I know nothing about creating a game but I'll sweep the damn floors for Naughty Dogs. Make coffee runs too. Sheeit!
Lol real talk
Why you want a job ? Hahaha
Brilliant. Looking forward to Uncharted 4 :)
Awesome.. I hope that means some great looking games coming from Naughty Dog like Uncharted 4.
I think these dev kits are for the team that did The Last of Us. Not the existing team working on the already mentioned PS4 game.
O.O can I have one?
looks like they're inviting the rest of the team to the ps4 party.
I just wanna make a fort out of those things. Or a throne.
New meaning to a Game of Thrones?
^ Game of Devs
I've got to say that looks more to me like 120 boxes :) 120 is a hell of a lot and considering that he said "120 more" it sounds like ND are going all out on PS4 development.
Damn 120? A ps4 for every person on all 3 teams. At night when we PS fans sleep we can think of the best devs in the industry diligently working on that next awesome exclusive game!!!!! for the ps4!!!!
One. JUST ONE would make me happy.
Really hope this means they'll take their time to big a HUGE hit! I want a even better game than Uncharted 3! Of course I don't doubt it'll be awesome! Hopefully in 2 years we see the game or as early an a year. I want it polished and not skip out on anything they want to include. I really feel they'll do this.
"I want a even better game than Uncharted 3" Uncharted 2 says hi? "I want it polished and not skip out on anything they want to include" I think we've played diffrent naughty dog games as there very good with there polishing "Really hope this means they'll take their time to big a HUGE hit" Take there time to make a huge hit? All of there games on PS3 where huge hits?
Relax. He's just excited.
I counted 125 !!
yup, 5 extra
The extra boxes are typically for controllers. If I recall with the PS3 devkits; these were shipped independently in their own box. Each controller was also in the final packaging; which was pretty strange. I have experience with 360 and PS3 devkits; but they were shipped to us from our publisher. I believe the packaged boxes were from Sony then forwarded from our publisher; as they looked exactly like those boxes (same writing style on the sides).
I thought that too, but if you look closely at the 5 boxes on the top, they are different. So maybe it is 120 with 5 boxes of controllers and accessories.
so this only means something is gonna be shown at TGS or VGA..
I hope it is something new.
Uncharted 4 and Last of Us 2 will make PS4 THE gaming console of this new generation.
Sho nuff! Whatever R* does is gold baby!
so this only proves that ND hasn't started anything on the ps4
No, it doesn't prove that at all. It says they got 120 MORE devkits. And Naughty Dog has two teams. So this extra 120 is most likely for the team that just released the TLOU.
i hope your right , because i was expecting a ND game by the end of next year along with the order . but yes the uncharted team has been working for 2 years now
Naughty Dog is host to an internal Sony development team that is primarily in charge of developing development tools; they are code named ICE Team. There is a good 95% chance that Naughty Dog had access to the first batch of kits; they were likely even working with the demo of the kits; before the hardware was even finalized. Also do not forget that Naughty Dog is currently set up to handle development for two games. The team from Uncharted has been silent for some time. Those new devkits were likely going to individuals from the Last of Us team. Even then; TLOU team likely had some of their core developers already working on a lot of the tech in preparation for PS4. Heck, they will no doubt share a lot of the tech already been made from the Uncharted team.
Jonah Falcon that dirty Troll Cunt on twitter.
Gotta love ND. WE won't tell you what we working on but here is the proof that we are working on something for our fans!!! if they keep dropping silly bits like this we could possibly see a "title announcement" not long after release date. Lets say they already have 100 or so dev kits, this "could" mean one of two things. 1-putting a second title together 2 -expanding the current team to speed up the production and testing of the current project
Yep, they may even be able to knock out a quick "preview" clip of their new work by launch. If the other reports of the speed at which devs can get things going on PS4 have been accurate, well, they still have two months. And whats to say they haven't already started on some of the stuff already on the PS3 kits (kind of like Quantic Dreams did)
I thought i heard somewhere that the engine ND used for TLoU was the same engine they plan to use on their next title, just with a few tweaks to optimize it.
Cool, now send me one you guys can work with 119.
PRAISE THE DOGS \o/
I guess when did they arrived...
The Ultimate Gaming Machine
And in related news Infinity Ward & Treyarch each got 5 used 1960s Guidance Computers that NASA used to land on the moon and have the computing power of a Casio pocket calculator. They where supposed to get only 3 but you know, smart fish soak up a lot cpu cycles.
Can anyone say indie devs
Indie desv... drat! Foiled again, "v" before "s," "v" before "s," till next time kingPoS.
Use them well my children, use them well.
yeah they are gunna enjoy them for this new age of gaming
Oh those sly dirty dogs lol make us proud like you always do naughty dog
I want me some next gen Jak & Daxter. I'd like them to take it back to its roots, as a platformer with punches, kicks & eco specials. Especially since there's Dark & White eco to work with now. But that's just me, because I can't really think of any way they could make the series any better with guns. Other than more guns, which imo is a boring change for the series. Or a new IP I guess, but I wouldn't know whether I'd want realism ala TLOU, or fantasy ala Crash & Jak, hmm.
