Is GTA Suitable for Children?

So if you ask the parent of a child with a GTA game, what do you think they would say about it? I imagine they are probably going to say one of two things. They might answer, “It’s just a dumb video game, it doesn’t change my kid”, OR they’ll say, “What’s that?”.

So which one is the right response?

The story is too old to be commented.

Certain parts are, flying planes, driving cars, tennis. Under adult supervision of course.

At any second kids could see or hear content that might not be appropriate for them. With a game like gta there is no way to perdict when the adult content will pop up. I personally don't have a problem with children seeing adult content as long as a they are old enough to understand what's real and not. But for a parent that does not want there kid around adult content letting them play anything in gta would be a stupid idea.

In a word: No.
In two words: Fuck no.

...end of conversation.

I would like to give kids the benefit of the doubt with M-rated games cause if i didn't i would kind of be hypocrite considering I played these games all the time when I was 10.
I would like to think of it as a kid by kid bases... if they are completely impressionable then maaaybe not but if they have the knowledge to tell right from wrong then maybe!

My 5 (very soon to be 6) year old daughter plays Red Dead Redemption from time to time, she just rides around on a horse or collects flowers, she's done the same thing in Skyrim

She'll play a "little" GTAV with me, free roaming, flying planes etc, hopefully there's a horse she can ride lol

I won't leave it around for her to play, she has her own games (Fat Princess, Journey, countless Sonic games) but if i'm playing something, keeping in mind who's watching (I wont play The Last Of Us around her for example) i'll pass her the controller and let her have a go

I've been playing the Dead Nation dlc quite abit lately, when I go to select the game using the XMB this is the image that is shown before I launch it after my session I delete the game off my PS3, then redownload it again when I want to play it again, I don't want my daughter seeing material like that, I KNOW the difference

The Last Of Us is a game that is most definitely NOT suitable for children, I made sure both of my kids were in bed ASLEEP when I played TLOU

GTAV is a little different, I won't be playing the actual missions around my kids but the free roam stuff is alright, you can turn the radio stations off so they won't have to listen to any profanity

As long as they're under supervision I see no problem
