OPM: The PS Vita TV is PS4′s set-top box wonder. Part mini-console, part Sony’s answer to Apple TV and much more. It’s going to be an essential companion to PS4 – here’s why.
I only need one...PS4 second screen experience.
Then you would want a Vita, not a Vita tv. And I don't understand this article, most of the reasons have little to do with the ps4, so how does that make the Vita tv an essential ps4 companion?
1-Remote Play PS4 wherever & whenever 2-It’ll keep you connected to PS4′s social world 3-It’s a Vita without a Vita 4-It’s also PS1,2 & 3 5-It’s a TV & film streaming service 6-It’s portable (like a deck of cards) 7-It’s cheap… 8-… and the controller is even cheaper Is what the article is saying.
Personally, here's what I think is the best reasons:... 1-It's a cheap Vita, 99$. Get more games to play, and quality ones too. 2-Remote Play, Instead on dragging your PS4 around, you just need to bring this Vita, if it breaks "accidentally drop it or something" then it's not as bad as breaking your 399$ PS4. 3-Cheaper Games on Vita 40$, same quality as PS3 Games on Vita looks just as great as those on PS3. All games are 60$ on PS3, 40$ on Vita. So, if you buy games day 1, don't want to wait months to get a price drop, then this is the best solution. 4-Plays PSP and PS1. It's Backwards Compatible. You'll have a variety of different games to play when you download them from the Store. If there's a certain game that isn't on the Vita Store, you can check it out on the PS3 store "or PC" download it there first and then transfer it to the Vita. Except for Final Fantasy Crisis Core 7, the best PSP game Ever! 5-Gaikai It will allow you to play PS3 and PS2 games as well. Also for your Sony Smartphones and Tablets. 6-Compatible with DS3 and DS4 controllers. 7-App Media player The Vita does have Netflix, Sony Music App, Youtube, Skype, Emails and more, if you have no other means of accessing these on your TV for Free for most of them.
Second screen experience is enough for me, although it has the added benefit of being able to play Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3. Which I have always wanted to play but were only on PSP.
I want it, mainly because I've said to my self on many occasions "man, I wish I could play this on my TV" while playing a PSP or PS Vita title.
they really need to let you use the Vita as a controller so that all titles are compatible or at least DS4 so the only non compatible games are the camera focused games since DS4 has the touchpad. JMHO
On the topic of controllers, if the Vita TV can broadcast a PS4 screen onto a separate TV, then doesn't that mean that you can control it with a DS4 as well? If it couldn't accept commands coming from a DS4 then it couldn't control a PS4 game, right? Or is the PS4 second screen functionality just for short-range, in-the-same-house situations and not over a strong internet connection.
it will get a patch for ds4 once ds4 is available, as to wether it could still control the ps4 without a ds4, im guessing it would be possible to a certain degree with ds3, considering that ps vita can control ps4 via remoteplay.
