I had the first pong set when I was a kid and played it for hours on end with my family. My parents purchased it from Sears. I remember when Atari started bring out other games and how we were blown away with how awesome they looked. ;-)

Now you look at PS1, N64 and Saturn games and say WOW has the industry come a long way. Just pick up and play an old Atari game and compare it to today. The best thing about gaming when it first started? No fanboy arguments. We were just happy to sit around and play them.

It's been a long road...most of the people on n4g probably were in mamas belly.

I started gaming circa 1980. The industry has certainly come a very long way since that time. As much nostalgia as the old games bring, I have to say that I love gaming now more than ever. It's a shame that many of today's gamers didn't have the opportunity to experience the beginning of it all. I'll stop now, I'm making myself feel old. 8)

Yeah! I had sears pong when I was a kid ...I forgot about that thing!
I wonder what our kids games are going to be like... Fully 3D holographic fighters duking it out in our living rooms in Virtua fighter 35?
