Prepare for ‘GTAV’ with our 10 favorite open world games

Digital Trends - If you are a gamer with a pulse and have been anywhere near a TV or computer, then you are probably at least vaguely aware that Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming soon. Rockstar’s open world crime/satire series is expected to push the current generation of consoles to their limits with its representation of the city of Los Santos and the surrounding areas. In terms of open world gameplay, it will at least be memorable, and might end up having an influence on all open world games that come after it. (Culture, Grand Theft Auto V)

Arma 2 / DayZ

should be on that list.

Stalker is just like GTA as it provides you with 100's of hours of fun and gameplay without even following the story.

Just wondering around The Zone exploring and surviving is a game upon itself.

Arma2 Definitely.

STALKER...wasn't such a fan myself. The game gave me headaches (Not that it was bad, oh no, just not for me)

RDR no surprises here. One of the best open world games ever made.
No Just cause 2? Sure the game felt generic, but it was damn fun blowing shit up.

Twilight princess was more open world then Skyward Sword.

Far Cry 3 deserves a mention as well. And it's ninety minutes until I get my hands on GTA. Damn you clock why u go so slow?
