The Past: Looking Back at the Best Games on PS3

PS4 Attitude: "It feels a little strange to be writing a retrospective article about a console which is still going strong, but nevertheless, it won’t be long before the PlayStation 3 will have to play second fiddle to the PS4. To celebrate the launch of PS4 Attitude, I thought I’d look back at some of my favourite PS3 games, to hopefully prove just how much of an awesome console it really is."

Clearly Steve Balmer is an N4G reader..

mayberry3874d ago

Ni No Kuni should be mentioned

Knushwood Butt3874d ago

Played mgs4 through for only the second time the other day.

Legendary

Angerfist3874d ago

Only twice??? I played through it 5 times, and that was before trophies :D

breakpad3874d ago (Edited 3874d ago )

..11 times here before the trophies and countless hours in MGO (best online tactical competitive game yet) ....unfortunately MGS 4 for me was the only WOW exclusive game for PS3...(damn Sony... support these japanese third party developers for AAA exclusives )

Knushwood Butt3873d ago

Yeah, played it once at launch, then vowed to play it again, but after some time had passed so that I could savour it again.

That second time was a couple of weeks ago..

I'd forgotten how to beat Vamp :)

Angerfist3874d ago

MGS4
Killzone 2
LBP 1
Uncharted 2

Those were the groundbreaking Games on PS3, now doubt about it, that was also the Time PS3 started to rise.
Killzone 2 was my first Game played on a HDTV :)

Tontus3874d ago

Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, The Last of Us? These 3 are the most groundbreaking games, then UC2, LBP & MGS4.

Angerfist3873d ago

Opinions, Opinions. And GT5 was a disappointment to many as it was so inconsistent content wise, Graphics, Damage, etc. especially after 5 Years of waiting.

If this is true, I hope it leads to Morrowind getting remade next.

-Foxtrot3d ago

I thought they’d go for Morrowind first to be honest but this is a welcoming surprise to tide us over before ES6

TheColbertinator3d ago

Well said. Exactly my thoughts too.

Tedakin3d ago

Unreal Engine isn't efficient for open world games, so I question the reliability of this story.

isarai3d ago

Yeah, 1st thing that came to my mind too, although i CAN see it being likely for ease if use, but it's not going to run very well if so

Tacoboto3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

I'd wonder if it would just be exploiting Unreal for graphics but the underlying engine/logic is still the original framework.

Like how we had the graphical remakes of Halo Anniversary, Tomb Raider I-III, and Demon's Souls.

Could also end up a disaster like the GTA Trilogy

mkis0072d ago

I have heard that too but even if it's modified isnt arkham knight UE?

Fragslayer2d ago

"remake will run both an Unreal Engine 5 project and the old Oblivion project. For instance, new graphics are rendered in the Unreal Engine 5 project, but most of the gameplay and physics are still done on the original Oblivion engine"

So with this logic it'll run just fine using UE5 tool sets on top of Gamebryo's engine or maybe even Creation Engine, who knows.

Hopefully modders can fix the aged combart in this game if this is true. Enemies leveling up with you broke and defeated the whole purpose of leveling up.

Fragslayer2d ago

Yeah it could use some tuning for sure hence the need for a Remake not a Remaster. I'm surprised it's even a conversation within them group which makes me skeptical it's Oblivion. I wouldn't say they shouldn't level up at all though maybe just a leave them a couple levels behind to appease the masses.

Steam's highest-rated game is now less than a dollar in the Spring Sale

Jack writes: "Yet again browsing the latest offers in the Steam Spring Sale has led us to track down the very best. In terms of price to quality, we don’t think that it gets much better than this. Portal 2 is now less than a dollar, and if you haven’t got it already, now is the time to pick it up."

TheEroica35d ago

Portal deserves to be one of steams highest rated games... It's almost tetris levels of perfect game design.

TheEnigma31335d ago

It's a great game, but highly overrated. But for $1, it's an amazon deal.

Friendlygamer35d ago

Valve should bring their games to ps5

Kados34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Gotta love Steam. Just got Portal 2 for .97 cents CAD. Should have been $1.29, selected the bundle with Portal 1 and 2, which gets a 25% discount, already have Portal 1, so it removes the cost of that, and still applies the full 25% bundle discount to Portal 2. 90% + 25% discount.

Friendlygamer34d ago

That's sweet, I've been thinking about building a modest pc to play some oldies
