The Past: Looking Back at the Best Games on PS3

PS4 Attitude: "It feels a little strange to be writing a retrospective article about a console which is still going strong, but nevertheless, it won’t be long before the PlayStation 3 will have to play second fiddle to the PS4. To celebrate the launch of PS4 Attitude, I thought I’d look back at some of my favourite PS3 games, to hopefully prove just how much of an awesome console it really is." (Batman: Arkham City, Dragon Age: Origins, God of War 3, Heavy Rain , LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Portal 2, PS3, Ratchet & Clank: Tool of Descrution, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves)

Played mgs4 through for only the second time the other day.

Legendary
Angerfist  +   681d ago
Only twice??? I played through it 5 times, and that was before trophies :D
breakpad  +   681d ago
..11 times here before the trophies and countless hours in MGO (best online tactical competitive game yet) ....unfortunately MGS 4 for me was the only WOW exclusive game for PS3...(damn Sony... support these japanese third party developers for AAA exclusives )

Yeah, played it once at launch, then vowed to play it again, but after some time had passed so that I could savour it again.

That second time was a couple of weeks ago..

I'd forgotten how to beat Vamp :)

Tales of Xillia, MGS4.

MGS4
Killzone 2
LBP 1
Uncharted 2

Those were the groundbreaking Games on PS3, now doubt about it, that was also the Time PS3 started to rise.
Killzone 2 was my first Game played on a HDTV :)
Tontus  +   681d ago
Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, The Last of Us? These 3 are the most groundbreaking games, then UC2, LBP & MGS4.
Angerfist  +   681d ago
Opinions, Opinions. And GT5 was a disappointment to many as it was so inconsistent content wise, Graphics, Damage, etc. especially after 5 Years of waiting.

Imo, MGS4 is the best looking game for its time.
And it's my personal game of the generation.

R.I.P MGO.. ;(...

For anyone who cares, here are a few more games that were on my original short list, before I cut it down to just ten games:

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Demon's Souls
Grand Theft Auto IV
Gran Turismo 5
Heavenly Sword
inFamous
Killzone 2
L.A. Noire
Red Dead Redemption
Rock Band 3

And that's still not even all of them! :)

Surprisingly for me it's ZoE HD: 2nd Runner (post patch).
Have played nothing like it since playing it on the PS2 and was thrilled to hear about the HD collection.

Japanese art direction, mecha, sci-fi, anime-ish, lightning fast mecha combat, plus it looked gorgeously futuristic. Dialogue and dub were hilarious too haha.

Really hope to god Hideo reignites the plan to do a next gen ZoE game because it would look tear jerkingly outstanding.

Still one of my favorite PS2 games ever. Wish the plans for the third game hadn't fallen through.
pyramidshead  +   681d ago
Well technically they haven't, Hideo left it on a very ambiguous note in his last interview about it asking fans if we really wanted a next gen ZoE so who knows. It's probably heavily back burnered, so I'm not losing faith yet! :P. X on the Wii-U always kinda reminds me of it...

Here's hoping. Just imagine a fully adult Leo- with improved skills that he showed were promising when you took him on in VV- with a fully functional Jehuty...

I'm imagining the story: what if they head to Earth and/or the moon? What if the characters from the anime make their game debuts(I think it'd be their debuts)?

Who cares? I want more Zero Shifting goodness!

Killzone 2 for MP.
The Last of Us for SP.
Ni No Kuni for JRPGs .
Demon Souls for the Hardcore unforgiving brilliance.
