GameTap writes: "A few weeks ago, the idea of playing Guitar Hero on a portable system seemed like a silly one. After all, one of the main attractions of playing a game like Guitar Hero is being able to pick up a (fake) instrument and play along as if you are truly rocking out, and it didn't seem like there would be any way to replicate that experience on a platform like the DS. But leave it to Vicarious Visions, a development house that continually does amazing things with portable hardware, to figure out a way to make it work and bring the Guitar Hero experience to a new audience. "It's interesting because people would ask, 'How are you going to bring Guitar Hero to a portable system?' That's a question we had too," says Karthik Bala, CEO of Vicarious Visions. 'It actually started as an R&D project. It's one of those weird things because Activision never asked us to do it [initially]. We do a lot of handheld games and were just wondering if it was even possible.'"
