Review: Jewel Adventures (Pure Nintendo)

Pure Nintendo: "A great war, a kingdom in need of rebuilding, monsters to battle, and treasures to collect, all in a fantasy world. A fairly simple story for an RPG, but a pretty epic tale for a puzzle game. Which doesn’t mean the clichéd story is good; honestly, it is so unmemorable that I’m forgetting it as I type. But the story itself isn’t really important … what is important is that serves as a means to wrap adventure elements around the common (but popular) Match-3 puzzle mold. And Jewel Adventures manages to pull off this balancing act very well. As a result, it’s able to do things other Match-3 puzzle titles simply can’t. We are left with a game that’s every bit addictive as the best of its contemporaries, but with a great deal more variety."

Jewel Adventures Review (NintendoLife)

"Woo-hoo, glitchy woman
Jewel Adventures is a puzzle game that’s partially familiar due to its match three gameplay, but freshened up by a few extra layers of depth. A sense of story, enemy battles, world (re)building and various gameplay goals are the glue that gives this puzzler a bit more substance than most like it. Much of it is only fluff – considering you don’t really have any freedom outside of the puzzling – but regardless, it serves to make the player feel like they’re doing more than just playing puzzle after puzzle, simply chasing high-scores.", rights NintendoLife.
