MGS 5 ditches rations for health regeneration

News has surfaced that reveals Metal Gear Solid 5 will be dropping rations in favor of a health regeneration system.

It is unclear what has caused Hideo Kojima to change his mind on this classic and long standing feature of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. (Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

WHAT!? What's next? a story that's not complicated to understand? Average boss battles?
MGS with no rations is like Kratos without his blades

erm not even joking, but Kojima said he was including less cut scenes to make MGS more understandable. but on the plus side we get more game play... right?

That's not true btw. No one confirmed that rations was not going to be in the game. The demo was set at the lowest difficulties and health regenerated faster because of that. On Normal difficulty the health regeneration should be similar to MGS3 and MGS4 and I am sure rations are still in the game. Not because they were not used means that they are not in the game. Stop with the false stories.

Exactly, we go through this all the time, people need to wait for a real full demo or statement. Remember the whole MGS4 rings around the player bit

Like I've been saying...MAINSTREAMING! :(

That's too bad. Maybe the way they implement it works. Or, they could include a "classic" mode where it retains the old system.

Still excited for this game tho.

What the HELL MAN!!!!

First Resident Evil with the herbs and typewriter, we all know how that went.

Kojima, your creeping over to the dark side buddy, embrace your roots, DON'T abuse them!

I know that feel bro

:'( Metal Gear Solid & Resident Evil, my bread and butter growing up, if Kojima does this to us.. honestly man, I'll have no childhood legends that kept unspoiled by gaming trends through the years.

The game isn't out yet, there may be hope yet brethren.

Ummm, wtf?? I knew there was something off with this game.

Disapointed if true but not a big deal. It will change the way i play though. Before a boss i always try and stock up as much as i can which is fun activity.

Still i trust Kojima. He does not fail.

No rations? wtf? Seriously wtf?!?! Rations are one of those items you keep in despite the way health regenerates in modern games.. Its a nostalgic must have in MGS.. It better have the box.. I know it kinda sucked having to cycle through your inventory, select them, then use but still.. Its something that makes MGS MGS.. I really hope it doesnt end up all mainstream & easy like many other games that took a turn for the worse
