Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts replacing Shadowrun as next Xbox LIVE ‘Games with Gold’ freebie in SA

El33tonline writes:

"At the beginning of the month Xbox spokesman Major Nelson revealed that South Africans would be getting Shadowrun as their second Xbox LIVE ‘Games with Gold’ freebie for September in place of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas." (Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Microsoft, Xbox 360)

MS really need to up this games with gold thing if they wan't to compete with PS+ instant game collection imo.

Would of rather had one of the original Banjo games not that.

Although I agree, Nuts & Bolts is a very underrated title.

I also find it laughable that at the same time as PS+ gets Assassin's Creed 3, MS gives it's Gold users Assassin's Creed 2. Shameful really.
Bundi  +   622d ago
I don't see it the same way. People get PS+ for the freebies, the games are the main attraction.
Nobody and I mean nobody gets gold for the games for gold program. The games here are an unexpected bonus. At least for now.

That been said, so far ACII, HALO 3, Nuts & Bolts are games that I already owned. I will be skipping the latter.

Yeah the games with gold thing looks like a poor man's version of PS+. Fair enough you can keep the games for life but these games can be found in the bargain bins of most game stores.
jackanderson1985  +   622d ago
well they did only start the thing in june? july? one of those and PS+ collection at the beginning of their existence wasn't exactly fantastic depending on your taste in games it wasn't until 2 years after it initially launched that the PS+ started pumping out decent titles
InMyOpinion  +   621d ago
And they are ending it in November. PS+ will probably keep on releasing games that will be playable on the PS3 as well as PS4. One of the reasons I'm thinking of switching over.
jackanderson1985  +   621d ago
@inmyopinion well they've recently came out and said if it's popular they'll consider extending it... so here's hoping free stuff is still free regardless of quality

Wow.....

Are they even trying to reward their customers?
die_fiend  +   621d ago
They're trying to pretend they're as generous as Sony. But whereas Sony offer 10 month old games like AC3, Microsoft offer 7 year old games like Vegas. It's such a slap in the face and should be an indicator or the shafting being lined up for next gen
jackanderson1985  +   621d ago
Sony's PS+ didn't really start out with AAA games though they had games like wipeout hd, critter crunch, mushroom wars and zen pinball in it's first 4 months. If MS opt to continue this after December 1 and continue to offer crap (questionable as i didn't have DR2 or the case zero and was good to try it out before DR3) 1/2 years down the line then yeah you can say it's shite and properly compare it to PS+.

also to put it in further perspective PS+ offered Magic the Gathering 2011 as it's 1 year game in NA

I think this is a good idea. Nuts and Bolts is a very underrated title and if they can offer it for free a lot of people will get it, play it and see what a great title it truly was.

Then when the buzz is out there this will prompt Rare to make a sequel and people will get it knowing how well part one was.

I like this approach better than Sony offering games that everyone has played and finished three times over.

Edit:
very serious, read and understand what I wrote. You naming off the games that PS+ offered only confirms what I just wrote.

What? Are you serious?

PS Plus: Assassins Creed 3, Uncharted 3 Saints row 3

Xbox live Games with gold: Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassins Creed 2, Halo 3

Your statement makes no sense.
Mikelarry  +   622d ago
Whats with all these really old games, i know we are not meant to complain about getting something for "free" but god damn they might as well not give any games

Don't you put that evil on us Ricky Bobby! I loved DR2!!
DiRtY  +   622d ago
A very underrated game.
Instead of mocking it, you should give it a try. Now might be the perfect timing.

Lameeee. I'd rather have Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

I've never played it. xP

I just wanna know if they plan to continue this service beyond X1 release or end of year.
I hate to be kept in the dark about this service.... :3
dazzrazz  +   621d ago
No they don't it ends December 2013.
TimeSkipLuffy  +   621d ago
I know that it is scheduled until the end of the year but that does not mean they won't continue it if it seems to be successful?
Mike134nl  +   621d ago
Service has already been extended from november to december 2013. No announcements have been made for this service to continue in 2014. Since it is clear that this is a competitive move against Sony the service will most likely continue as long as the service of Sony does.

Its likely that xbone won't offer this service so if it will continue for the 360 it will most likely be under another name.
