Sony's PS4 Launch Delay in Japan Signals Huge Marketing Shift

CCC Says: "In stark contrast to preceding years of a distinctly Japan-first product schedule, Sony recently announced (during SCEJA Press Conference 2013) that the PlayStation 4 will not release in Japan until February 22, 2014. The news comes on the heels of confirmed November 15th and November 29th release dates for North America and Europe respectively as well as Sony’s plan to release in 32 total countries by 2013’s end. The announcement was paired with the reveal of Japan’s official PS4 launch lineup, which has grown to include several Japanese-centric titles, the majority of which are download-only."

Them doing the PS4 announcement outside of Japan and in the west already showed that

I think they're at a very comfortable spot right now, so they were able to continue with getting aggressive to win back the west, while still ensuring a win in Japan since the home console market is once again left wide open for them as it was in the PS2 era.

Its because consoles sold more units out in the western market while Japan moved towards on the go gaming.
