IGN have had their eyes on Crosswords DS ever since the game was "announced" at E3 2006. And really, it wasn't much of an unveiling. The publisher quietly released some gameplay footage showing off the mechanics of the puzzler, but it didn't bother to reveal any real details. Still, the video montage was enough to relate the premise -- a handheld game based on the crossword puzzles commonly found in the back pages of newspapers -- and to hype them for showings to come.
They have been waiting almost a year, but at its annual Media Summit in San Francisco, Nintendo finally pulled back the curtain on Crosswords DS and previewed a fully playable (and seemingly finished) version of the title. Is it the most casual-friendly game out there? It's certainly a competitor. And is it awesome? Yes.
