Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Review | Forbes

Forbes: "Some of the genius of FFXIV:ARR comes in the form of tiered accessibility. From the 'story' Final Fantasy player that may have wandered in from the console titles to the hardcore MMORPG veteran, the title manages to facilitate multiple gaming personas simultaneously. It’s a serious accomplishment to be able to cater to a wide range of players with the same product, from casual to core.

FFXIV:ARR is a worthy addition to the Final Fantasy franchise and an excellent MMORPG experience." (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, PC, PS3) 9.5/10

That is a big score!

I would say FFXIV is a 7.5 to 8. There's a lot to like and a lot of potential, but it is hugely cookie cutter in terms of game play.

I'm liking it a lot, but will probably subscribe on and off rather than commit to it.

Graphically it is stunning though. Could easily go up against any SP RPG.

I see a lot of these scores flying around though. It's tough to review an MMO really.

Yeah, definitely.

SE have created a good platform to build on, and a solid game with very few bugs (that I've experienced).

I'm looking forward to seeing the game grow and expand. It also needs to address a few basics (like ability to ignore people - which appears to be missing and would be useful to reduce the noise from gold spammers), and usability issues (like a key for the map, and better implementation for teleport and moving between aether stones - I'm not sure why the lists don't specify the area / region better).

I agree.... those f***ing spammers..... typing their names to blacklist pisses me off. And the teleport.

Didn't realise we can blacklist. Will be using that a lot. Thanks! Shame it's not on a right click in the chat window.

Also going to start reporting raising tickets against the spammers. It was getting ridiculous on Lich server last night. The General chat window was just constantly scrolling with spam.

I agree, it's a 7.5 from what I've seen so far, it doesn't really do anything spectacularly well but is solid in most aspects. It's a good game and definitely worth player's time if they want to play a new MMO but there isn't really anything about it that screams must play.

I will give credit where it is due. The first game got slated but fair play to Square for going back to the drawing board and turning FFXIV into an excellent mmo.
