Killzone: Mercenary (PS Vita) Review - JPS

When Killzone: Mercenary was announced, many people got excited because it appeared to be the one game that would make the PS Vita relevant again. Not to mention screenshots showed that the game was more than capable of producing PS3-like quality visuals. With the game now out, does Killzone Mercenary live up to the hype? (Killzone Mercenary, PS Vita) 8/10

8 is a fantastic score. It signifies that the game is better than decent and is worth buying, but at the same time keeps GG humble so they can give us a better effort in 2-3 years with even better visuals, a longer campaign, and less bugs.

Scores is good and all, but in the end I just buy the games I like. Army of Two: The 40th Day was one of my favorite games on the PSP, but judging by the score it was worthless, same goes for Need for speed Undercover, but I loved the game...I am sure you got similar examples...ehh rambling a bit and lost my point...but kudos to Guerrilla Cambridge.

Agreed. Scores matter only to the extent that a good score results in great sales for a product (Journey is a good example). A lot of people won't even give a game a second look if IGN gives it a 7(Crazy, but it happens).

Not trying to disagree or anything because I guess it is true what you are saying, but I just remembered Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified and so far that game has sold 770.000 copies for the PS Vita.

PS - to my former comment, I meant Need for speed Undercover PS3 version, the PSP version was utterly terrible!!!

To be fair, Declassified had brand recognition, a second CoD game included (with retail versions anyway), was the better of two FPS options on the Vita and was on sale often / several times after release (not to mentioned bundled with a system). Sure some games still sell well, but the vast majority do poorly if review scores are low.
