Top Ten Platforms Released in the Past Twenty Years

SuperPhillip Central writes, "EDGE Magazine recently released a list of the "best" consoles from the past twenty years. We definitely did not agree with their order of the consoles. The list did give us inspiration for our own article. "Hey, let's just take EDGE's idea and do it SuperPhillip Central-style!" That's exactly what we did. Many gaming platforms, both handheld and home, have been released in the past twenty years. Our list does its best to encompass our favorites and give our rationale as to why we have placed them where we have. From 1993 to 2013, here are our picks for the greatest gaming platforms to have released during that time. What are your favorites?" (Culture, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PS2, PS3, PSP, Retro, Wii, Xbox 360)

I'd say Dreamcast was easily one of the most innovative consoles out there. Many of Nintendo's ideas stem from it. And it was the first concept of online Multiplayer on consoles, which MS and Sony expanded upon.

Solid list, can't really disagree with it, although I could argue that 3DS could ALREADY make the top 10, even with it's currently short lifespan.

all of Sonys consoles on the list except for the vita which is understandable but will catch momentum soon. A lot of my friends are buying one when killzone releases on it.

Well, it, 3DS and Wii U are still relatively new. It wouldn't be fair comparing 1-2 year old hardware to 7+ yrs old consoles.

The Playstation brand turns 20 years old next year (well, at least in Japan). I'm expecting a mind-blowing PS4 exclusive coming, much like Uncharted 2 did on the 15th Anniversary.

The dc was an amazing console and its a shame it was segas last. I also think the n64 and the game cube deserved Bette sales as hey had some of the best games in there generation and classics too.

Still have my dreamcast and a number of games for it. Also love and play my GameCube still too.

Obviously a Sony fanboy list.

Still got my Dreamcast, i much prefer the Europe blue swirl too since SEGA's logo and mascot are blue it looks way better than orange.

DC was also ahead of it's time, noticably better looking than N64 games. Much on par with PS2 visually for most of it's games, too bad people jumped straight to Sony and didn't give the DC a look, it was around a while before PS2 even came out.
