Pianist Performs Game Music for Charity

A self-proclaimed nerd, the cosplaying pianist under the stage name of Piano Squall may be as geeky as they get, but underneath all that geekiness lies a big heart.

Dressed as the hero Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy VIII, Michael Gluck has been performing video game and anime music at anime conventions since 2003. In 2007, he released his debut album titled GAME (Game & Anime Music Emotions) and in collaboration with Electronic Arts raised $10,000 within the first six months for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

He definitely is an uber dork lol. I contemplated doing just that at the Anime Expos, but then realized I didn't want to be associated with the crowd of cosplayers.
Anyway, most these FF pieces are available online to play off of. I give props to whoever does great arrangements, but Square is usually great about making good arrangements.
Finally, my critique on his playing is that while he does a serviceable performance, the notes are a little muddled and uneven. If you ever have the chance to own FF Piano Collections, most of the pianists have very clear enunciated notes and much all around better performances. I would say he's no better than the already well-populated game music fan players at the conventions.
