GameZone: Simon the Sorcerer 4 Preview

When last GameZone met with Simon the Sorcerer, he was traversing through a poorly-executed 3D excursion that was critically derided for having lousy graphics and a host of other gameplay problems. However, it looks like the titular hero has gone back to his roots for his fourth adventure, Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens. This entry to the series returns to its point-and-click roots, complete with nice pre-rendered environments and simple gameplay that everyone should be able to grasp, regardless of their familiarity with adventure gaming.

ADG writes: "If you are a fan of classic click-and-point adventure games, you will love Silver Style Entertainment's Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens. This game is among the best adventure games I have played, on par with a LucasArts classic of yesteryear, but with modern graphics and effects. Indeed, the only legitimate complaint I can make about this game is the English subtitles, which are rife with spelling and punctuation mistakes. This is only a minor criticism given the great voice acting, and you will probably want to listen to the dialog rather than read it anyway."

I am playing it at the moment. The dialog it not the best and Simons voice actor is not the best.

Rise in Profits for Playlogic

Edge writes: "Amsterdam-based Playlogic on Wednesday posted higher sales and earnings figures for the second quarter ending June 30, thanks to sales of games including Obscure II for Wii.

Q2 revenues rose 343 percent to $4.3 million, up from $1.1 million for the comparable quarter last year.

The firm said that Dragon Hunters for DS and Simon the Sorcerer 4 for PC helped drive sales. The firm released seven titles during the first half of its fiscal year."
