Indies Vs. AAA Titles: Who Cares?

SheAttack: "As the console wars bloom into a full fledged WWE ladder match, Sony and Microsoft have continued the fight at this year’s Gamescom 2013. Microsoft brought their big guns: FIFA 14, Titanfall, and CoD, with a surprise announcement that the next gen CoD will have dedicated servers. Sony showed off 15 new exclusives, a Vita price drop, and — oh yeah — more indie games. As a gamer who has played almost everything known to man in the AAA lane, I loved everything from both companies, but as a Sony fan since day one, I must admit I was highly impressed." great read ... titles like RIME or everyone going to the rapture are rare

Rime looks awesome...little jealous of that exclusive. One of very few Indie titles that really peaked my interest. Especially if this music plays throughout the game.

just because some games cost 60$ does not mean that they are automatically going to be AAA. people need to remember that.

ryse for example. i guarantee that at least half the indie and F2P games on PS4 will outscore ryse and offer more game content

I would agree with your first statement. I have had more fun with some indie titles than I have had trudging my way through some bloated $60 game campaigns. That being said, it's really about individual preference and the perception of value. That being that a $60 game is inherently more valuable (i.e. "better") because one paid that much.

@Edonus..."Trying to act like AAA games and indie game have the same weight..."
Just because a studio "fought" it's way from being indie doesn't automatically mean that it's games have any more weight in the industry. Indie developers are being coveted simply because they usually have more creative freedom than developers that are tied to a publisher. They have as much "weight" as they can command with their quality. Just like any big budget, AAA title should.

Hey man, to me a great game is a great game, the only thing that separates AAA's and Indies is budgets and bosses. I greatly enjoy both but find much more enjoyment in indies as they have the freedom to create fresh new innovative and unique experiences unlike most AAA's

the ones who talk trash about indie game nowaday maybe never play any game in 80s

The 80's...90's...the PSOne era. The days when a budget didn't determine the how good a game could be. It was just creativity, uniqueness, and most of all FUN!!! Glad I am old, because I can still remember when playing with stick figures and space ships made from digital sprites made no difference as long as the game mechanics were fun.
