XCOM: Enemy Within 'too big' to be DLC on Xbox 360, PS3

Enemy Within is simply too large a file to patch into the console game as DLC. "For the expansion on the PC, it was fairly straightforward," Garth DeAngelis, senior producer at Firaxis Games, told Joystiq during a PAX Prime interview.

The story is too old to be commented.

why couldn't they just release it by itself instead of lumping it in with the first game at a premium? It could of been sold as a downloadable game and not a dlc if it was so big. Just call it a sequel, problem solved.

but its not a sequel so if doing it this way then i would be buying the same thing twice just to get some dlc stuff

if madden can come out every year with only minor tweaks I see no problem with calling it a sequel

ya true, but thats a whole separate problem

Fair enough. I'll respond freely, by withholding purchase until either it comes free to PS+ or it's price drops substantially.

Capitalism - a wonderful thing.

Wish they would announce a next gen version.

There are a lot things I don't get about this DLC. If its a DLC then why can't I continue with my current squad. And if its too big to be a DLC then why not make it a stand a lone? Get your shit together Firaxis.

This isn't a PC only franchise like Civ 5 where you can release a huge $30 DLC every year. The multiplat nature of this game requires a different business model.
